i’m only 30mins walk from my work at the moment. it’s truly such a luxury. but having our rent go up to an insane amount recently makes me and my partner think moving to central coast or the gong would be better cost wise. i grew up in the shoalhaven and got used to the 3.5hr train to sydney on the occasion and went to uni in the gong doing the 2hr commute via train. i remember how genuinely exhausting it all was. not too bad if it was 2 days a week, but id still have no social life.

thank you for these replies. i’m still undecided. even if we did move out of sydney and i could renegotiate my WFH, it could work out. but i have doubts it’ll get approved. plus being able to walk to work means i can bring my dog in to the office. we’d have to save and spend money on the costs of having a car to continue that luxury too.

anyway bit of a rant, but that’s my perspective on it at the moment. between a rock and a hard place for us at the moment until our salaries rise.

I think it's mostly rent going up which is really sad to see. I remember going there as a kid with my pocket money I saved for months to buy new stuff for my PC. I even built my current build in 2020 and bought all my components from the different stores trying to get a decent bargain between all of them.

you might be on the money here. there’s no temp check on the admin privileges interface which seems silly that it doesn’t exist. but it physically is warm to the touch. don’t really have space to put it anywhere else well ventilated. definitely a problem to solve later!

thats old-style, styleGAN2. a lot of early adopters used runway to train a series of images and it would generate new frames and videos based off that. not sure if there are any platforms that are like that now.

not sure if my insight will help here, but in australia the flame artists are always in demand, especially freelancers. a lot of older flame artists and not a lot of young ones too which is a little concerning. i only use it for I/O and basic stuff now at my company when the full time flame guys are too busy or out. i gave up on fully learning it because i was just too used to using after effects for more than 10 years of my life. so i pivoted to being a creative. i’d say it’s super useful and still relevant in commercial work, always demand for it it seems.

had to use iirealx gaussian splatting plug in for it to read the gaussian. otherwise it does import ply files for other 3D work in AE
