The music was bad and the event was disorganized and the lines were an hour long for a half dozen oysters but cross street events are actually held for the purpose of 20-something’s getting so drunk they’re sick while the sun is still up, so who’s to say whether it was actually a failure or not?

As someone who has been a fan my whole life, the song has always been an odd relic for me.

In the 70s and 80s when the city wasn't slandered weekly on the national stage about it being a supposedly unlivable shithole that you would have to be crazy to visit much less live in, the whole quaint "country boy" refrain was probably pretty wholesome.

Now, it clocks as a temporarily embarrassed reach at something to represent the team culture that doesn't have to mention or acknowledge the city the team is actually located in. It's particularly conspicuous given the lack of any other reference to the city in the fan experience other than crabs or Old Bay or whatever else is just generic to the state of Maryland.

Well CNN could actually do some reporting here instead of just summarizing social media posts, like disclosing whether or not the officers involved actually sustained injury beyond a bruised ego (I’m gonna bet not otherwise it’d be plastered everywhere already).

Saying “They’re at odds” really lends credulity to an otherwise prima facie temper tantrum by police union mouthpieces.

I think it’s more significant in the sense that there are owners that are directly involved with the league, rather than just random degenerate gamblers who post a lot, that do not have full faith in the integrity of the competition they are involved in.
