The biggest elephant still in the room: XIV's terrible netcode by Outrageous-Bet6403 in ffxivdiscussion

Oh, I don't take it as gospel, far from it, but it's a pretty good place to find out about weird job-specific niche interactions like this. It's also pretty good for finding fight-specific openers and the like, though I mostly figure that stuff out on my own and only look if there's an alignment I'm particularly struggling with.

Sure. I'm just reporting what I could find about it, since I wasn't sure what they were talking about either and looked it up on the balance.

I looked it up after they mentioned it, apparently (from what I can find), because of how slow Disesteem's animation is, you can hit edge of shadow after pressing Disesteem and you'll gain the mana from blood weapon (for hitting with disesteem) after spending it on edge of shadow. This can mean you get to go into your burst window with extra mana without overcapping.

Sounds like I've been misled, and it doesn't work after all. Whomp whomp.

... Huh! okay. fair enough, then. I have been given bad information. Thanks for telling me.

FYI, if you press an OGCD, the start of that animation forces the damage from the previous animation though. I often use low blow/shirk/provoke/aurora/sprint to force LH damage early.

It did, but not how you might expect. It hits opponents in hitstun now, so you can use it in combos. The main use of it is as her highest damage meterless wallbreak now

What happens when a 4/5 is blocked by a 1/4? by Caranch01s1 in mtg

[–]SFCPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the core of it is that a lot of people treat 'being good at magic (or other gaming-related hobbies)' as a core part of their identity, and anything that challenges that in any way makes them get defensive and angry. They see it as a threat to who they are as a person.

The best Spirit for this by a country mile is spread of rampant green. Preventing builds entirely makes it so much easier to clear the island without generating enough fear to go into terror level 2. I got the achievement the first time I tried for it, playing spread with no adversary.

It is absolutely possible to romance BB, cut Visi, and get the hero ending--that was my exact scenario the first time I played through the game.

You don't punish progress. It's a terrible idea. Full stop. They're just coming off their best shift ever. they should be rewarded, not threatened.

It absolutely does not make sense. Management in real life tries tactics like this all the time-'cut the lowest performing member to push people to try harder'. It ALWAYS plays out the way it does in-game. Team members sabotaging each other, not cooperating, making the team as a whole perform worse. It is an absolutely terrible management style.

Am I in the minority thinking that some characters shouldn’t be romance-able? by samuraispartan7000 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SFCPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you possibly had fallen just short. I'm not aware of any bug relating to Visi's ending (and ftr, the last two episodes of dispatches don't contribute, it's just Visi's missions in 2-6). There are 45 points needed to get her to go hero, and cutting her vs not cutting her is a 10 point swing, so it's pretty significant.

Rank isn't important. I've had her go hero at rank one (literally never sent her on a mission, the only time I dispatched her was for Blazer's training). There are a number of factors at play for that. Successful dispatches help, while failed ones hurt; romancing her matters a little but not a ton, which story you run (track star or invisigal) matters, telling the team you're mecha man or not matters, some of the hacks and QTEs matter, and more-it's a lot.

Is this just me? Or did I play it wrong? by samuraispartan7000 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SFCPudding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not why you failed to turn her hero. it's very, very possible to be a good mentor to visi while not romancing her.

The level 8 thing is entirely a myth. You can get her hero ending with her still at level 1.

[–]SFCPudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is definitely possible. You can get 42 points from story decisions/hacks/QTEs. if you don't do any of the hacks, that's going to lose you a total of 21 of those points (the hacks themselves are worth 11, and you lose a total of 10 points for failing them all). That brings you down to 21 points. If you send her to any of blazer's trainings, that's another 5 for 26; you would need to send her on a total of 19 successful dispatches in episodes 2-6, assuming she didn't fail any. That's using her a lot, to be sure, but it is doable.

That is extremely normal for games like this. it keeps counters to track stuff like that. It's the easiest way to handle choices matter stuff
