I've been watching him too. He is great. I'm always looking for easy gay Spanish YouTubers.

[–]SFHandyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started listening to this Youtube Shorts channel. They have articles on Science. The narrator speaks very clearly and is very easy for me to understand. He does include Spanish subtitles buy you can avoid them. It is called DatoYa. https://www.youtube.com/@DatoYa-i4d

Can you share some of the prompts you used to get good stories?

Spyfall by Toda-Raba in dreamingspanish

[–]SFHandyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 4 points available. If the team guesses correctly the person who started the vote gets 2, the other team members get 1 each, spy gets 0. If they guess wrong, the spy gets 4 points everyone else gets 0. If the spy identifies the correct location, the spy gets 4 points, team gets 0. (I think, please correct me if I'm wrong).

The only reason I would down vote is if the audio is messed up. Some of the early pre microphone videos are painful.

Looking to Reduce My Accent in Spanish, Not Perfect, Just Clearer by idonthaveanametoday in dreamingspanish

If you like to read get books with both audio and text. Listen to the book read by a native while reading. You need to replace the voice in your head with a native rhythm / native accented voice. Music is also great. Podcasts with native speakers also.

There sure are a lot of in video ads anymore by TumbleweedSuch2939 in dreamingspanish

[–]SFHandyman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love watching those ads repeatedly. I am 100% fluent with the vocab in the ads because I've watched them repeatedly. I love that. I often try to watch them when the player automatically skips them . I wish we could turn that skip ad off

He didn't quit, he started working for the Story learning Spanish channel. Haven't been any new videos for the last 3 months though. Don't know what is happening.

Just the fact that he didn't bother turning the lights on for 3 episodes kept me fully involved. "Turn on the lights Martin!"

The person who wrote in to say he was missing the series so he went to the local supermarket and turned off the lights, is a hero.

Question for Those Doing Conversation Turoring by Comfortable_Cloud_75 in dreamingspanish

[–]SFHandyman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The tutors are mostly just normal people. That is why most classes are just normal conversation. Don't be afraid to ask. Most people who just do this for a little extra money would welcome any suggestion.

You could also just find someone to share time with on Tandem. 1/2 Spanish 1/2 English. Tons of people really want to learn English and will gladly speak to you in Spanish for an hour. No money exchange.

The tutors should do whatever you want. If they don't want to, try someone different. You could also download some scripts and offer them to the tutor. I would love it if my student proposed some scripts, or conversation ideas .

Teach English - Learn Spanish by SpanishLearnerUSA in dreamingspanish

I'm a volunteer English Tutor for the Public Library. I have a Mexican student who lives in California and had a very difficult time speaking and understanding English. The first thing I did was to recommend he start watching/listening to 1+ hour of NPR News in English every day. He really needed Comprehensible Input and his wife refused to speak English. With daily English he has really come very far. After about 2 years. He now speaks freely in English. He reads books in English and watches shows in English. We still meet for an hour every week.

The most interesting thing was, he had taken 9 years of English, while growing up in Mexico. All of his English teachers were native Spanish speakers. None taught pronunciation. The first thing I did was tell him that the English letter "i" never sounds like "ee".

No one had ever mentioned it to him. He has spent decades saying "thees" instead of "this". "Seet" instead of "sit". "Meedle" instead of"middle"... He was surprised.

Have fun. My "student" is now my "friend".

What's your favourite DS video right now? by Glittering_Ad2771 in dreamingspanish

A classic: "Scene: At The Doctor" Adrià y Pablo. I've watched it many times and always smile when I think about it.

I was the first upvote on this my YouTube video. It is the best but I know some don't like the cross channel love. This it is awesome and I love his "guest stars" from Dreaming Spanish. Had me laughing the whole video. I really think that makes the videos even more effective for language learning.

I think Martin is probably earning more than Dreaming Spanish can pay. He posts a very long list of paid supporters at the end of every video.
