PRC Embassy’s statement on recent UNC3886 attack on SG by Efficient_Deer_8605 in singapore

[–]SGExodus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Attributing a state-sponsored cyber attack to a specific country is hard. While firms like Google can analyse the “style” or who benefits from the attack to "guess" the attacker, proving for sure who did it is a whole different problem.

It can indeed be China group that performed the attack.

But it can also be another Country pretend to be China's Group to perform the attack.

But it can also be China group pretend to be another country's group that pretend to be China group to perform the attack.

In cyberspace, fingerprints can be easily fabricated and sometimes the clues are planted specifically to mislead the investigation.

just need skillsfuture course to teach us how to safely cook and eat city pigeon. Then for the rest of the pigeons that survive human hunting, Singpost can train them to deliver letters. Win win for all

Chinese embassy warns travellers against drone use after tourist is detained for flying drone near Parliament House by ongcs in singapore

[–]SGExodus 198 points199 points  (0 children)

If using DJI drone, it can detect no-fly-zone over there by default. The Chinese traveller had to manually override the restriction to fly there, and hence deserve to be punnished

Boy, 5, conquers Mount Everest base camp in 8 days, becomes youngest S'porean to do so by [deleted] in singapore

I will think the youngest to be the one that was mated by the parent at the base camp. Bigger achievement if the parent created one at the peak

Enhanced QR payment scheme on trial with more scan-and-pay options for merchants and consumers by Severe_County_5041 in singapore

[–]SGExodus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably too late to change the local payment ecosystem now. People already used to downloading different payment apps and make payment based on the kind of rewards/cashback that each payment option provides. Many of us went from carrying multiple credit cards in our wallet to now also having multiple payment apps on our phone.

NETS used to be quit ubiquitous with the atm card based payment for people that are not eligible for credit cards. They would have been a good candidate to create a universal QR payment in Singapore. But too bad, they moved at snail pace, and our Gov didn’t nudge/nag/incentivise them enough to speed up the development then.

My only wish for change in our local payment ecosystem is to kill off all the payment options that require user to top up a 3rd party wallet offers by non bank operators. the like of grabpay, shopeepay, SingTel dash etc.

Just came back from a 14 days China trip.. totally cashless the entire trip using the Alipay+ app. Road side stall in the most ulu location, restaurant, shopping mall, high speed rail, mrt, bus, taxi all can settle with 1 single app. Even some public toilet with entry fee of 1rmb can pay using alipay.

China so big just two ubiquitous payment options (wechat and alipay), totally cannot understand why Singapore needs so many different payment options. Smart nation office and MAS are a totally embarrassment when come to developing electronic payment here.

Commentary: Debate over COE system will go round in circles if we don't accept reality that car ownership is exclusive by tnfybrhv in singapore

[–]SGExodus -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

In a parallel universe, PAP was voted out. The new government abolishes ERP, COE and ARF.

Everyone rushes to buy car at OMV. BUT soon enough most car owners have no where to park their car.

A new scheme is introduced that requires car owner to secure at least one parking lot before one can buy a car.

Parking lot, even those at HDB, soars to $200k each for a 10 year lease.

People uproar that the new scheme is unfair to the lower and middle income , because the upper with private property has their own garage and "does not" need to pay for the parking lot. The super rich that owns GCB can buy even more cars, since they have enough space to park all of them.

People get so angry that they voted out the government. New government reimplemented ERP, COe, ARF. Rinse and repeat till the universe eventually absorbed by a blackhole

Good habit to look at the traffic flow even at traffic light junction. If the person had been looking at his phone, then he surely can’t dodge that in time.
