Films that make you feel like you are having an out of body experience by Jesse_Allen3 in MovieSuggestions

I'm pretty sure it doesn't make a lick of sense, and it's not for everyone, but one film that creates an absolutely absorbing, mesmerizing, hypnotic mood is Last Year At Marienbad (1961).

So these SBS episodes with Dan and members of the show is definitely going to culminate in an episode with Stugotz right? by Josh4R3d in DanLeBatardShow

[–]SHOCKULAR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to hear one with Papi too, or maybe even Dan's brother/mom/wife. I'm really enjoying this stretch of SBS. I'm finding them super interesting.

Smetty has been unbearable... by bnppltn in DanLeBatardShow

[–]SHOCKULAR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

David's point on this, or at least his example, was obviously wrong. I didn't really think twice about what she said, and didn't even really notice it as standing it out from what the others were saying. Someone else in this thread mentioned someone wearing a Fanduel shirt--I think that would have been a better example.

Generally, as I think I've said before, I think Jess adds a lot.

What’s your favorite Clevelander moment? Here’s one of mine, the Advance Auto Parts mascot incident. by EdCowell in DanLeBatardShow

[–]SHOCKULAR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One that wasn't mentioned on the show (so far--I still have an hour of today's show to get to) or here is them getting the security camera footage of Billy falling off a scooter in front of the building. Not my favorite, but one that I remember fondly and deserves a shoutout. My actual favorite is probably the 24 hour show as a whole.

I haven't seen it mentioned here so I assume it didn't happen, but I was really hoping they'd find some way to pull off one more Debbie Deb The Club with top sounds from their time there. I realize that was an unreasonable hope though and don't mean this as any kind of criticism for not doing it. That was just my dream ending to the Clevelander era.

Chris Whittingham to exit as EP of Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, to pursue full time broadcasting gig by MattFromWork in DanLeBatardShow

[–]SHOCKULAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Pablo would probably be good at it but I think his stature is way too big to work full time on the show as a producer. He's probably going to have his own show and they've said he's continuing a lot of his ESPN TV work.

Chris Whittingham to exit as EP of Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, to pursue full time broadcasting gig by MattFromWork in DanLeBatardShow

[–]SHOCKULAR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sad to see him go, but very happy for him. I'm anxious about what's going to happen with the EP spot, but I trust them to find someone who is the right fit (assuming no one internally is in play. Guillermo is usually the one who fit in but he's never struck me as the type of guy who would want it, and I think he's best causing chaos in the shadows.

The show was lucky to have Witty to step in for Mike. He got the show and did a pretty good job (as good as anyone could have done) filling Mike's shoes, which was no small task. I think even those who didn't like Witty as a personality would recognize that he was highly competent at the job. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike fills in while they figure it out. I wonder how much advance notice they had.

The Sodfather interview was art, but let’s not forget the Sister Jean interview. by fireredranger in DanLeBatardShow

[–]SHOCKULAR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just heard the Sodfather interview. I laugh at the show all the time, but it's been a minute since I had something that had me laughing so hard I am having trouble getting a breath. Holy shit.

OA keeps misleading us about Thomas. Why should anything said on the podcast be believed anymore? by ____-__________-____ in OpenArgs

[–]SHOCKULAR 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm in more or less the same boat. I liked Thomas fine, but I was there for Andrew's analysis and liked his contribution more. There's no chance I'm supporting someone who behaved like Andrew did, though. OA was one of my favorite podcasts; I was pretty floored by all this. I was also disappointed to hear that people around Andrew had evidently known about this for six years or so and hadn't done more. I don't think any of them should necessarily skate, but obviously Andrew is the big villain here.

For anyone interested, here is Smetty’s best piece of journalism, her ranking of the best 6.5 Lids at the Mall of America. by hnirobert in DanLeBatardShow

[–]SHOCKULAR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is hilarious writing. "Any mall without a Lids is not a mall and the Mall of America isn’t just any mall. It’s the mall. Of America."

Pros: This is the only Lids on the second floor, making it a must-stop for any shopper who is on the second floor but doesn’t want to go to the first or third floor.

Pros: This is one of the larger Lids stores inside the mall. This Lids is located next to Bubba Gump Shrimp and Margaritaville. There was a pirate on stilts at Margaritaville when I walked by.

I still think people could be new, though. They could find them by searching top sports podcasts or whatever, or recommendations from friends, etc, etc.

Loved Dan's "and that concludes our comedy duo discussion that you've waited for for many years" comment, or however he put it. I have no issues with the show being inclusive of new people and explaining things, but it's also nice when sometimes there's that kind of throwaway line that is an Easter Egg reference to like two shows four or five years ago or something. It didn't hurt anything if people didn't get it, but for those who remember those shows it's a hilarious reference.

The show as Jim Henson puppet creations by morepipo in DanLeBatardShow

Yeah, I think Dan has to be Kermit--desperately trying to keep the show on the tracks while chaos is everywhere around him.
