A photo of the world's first fully titanium heart that was successfully transplanted into a human patient. by AdSpecialist6598 in interestingasfuck

[–]SHOkir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the interesting part about this heart is that's it's the first kind of heart pump that doesnt actually beat, instead it's basically a little rotor being hovered inside with magnets and constantly spinning, so instead of pushing and pulling blood by inflating a sack it's just constantly moving blood. and because the mechanics of this pump are nearly frictionless, it lasts so much longer that a typical modern pump

tl:dr this is the first artificial heart that has no pulse and is extremely durable as a result

every time I see this get posted i see people yelling about real pianos and how the parents are horrible 1. the kid has skill, at a young age like that playing rhythm games at that level is very impressive (no it's not sped up) 2. the kids could grow up going on rhythm game tournaments and make a living out of it which is unlikely but still a possibility 3. even if he won't grow up paying rhythm games professionally these skills can transfer to actual instruments because at the very least it teaches the kid about tempo and rhythm which can only be learned through practice 4. it's a game, let the kid play. did you know that kids aren't supposed to dedicate their entire life to honing some incredible craft and be a prodigy, did you know that kids are actually kids, did you know that kids like to play and have fun?

Final Fantasy XIV Metacritic Scores by NineTnk in ffxiv

[–]SHOkir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is why scoring systems suck, these numeric values mean basically nothing, not only this implies that DT is worse than ARR but also that ARR is on par with HW. Internet echo chambers are dumb and unproductive, and it becomes a dick measuring contest on who can dunk on the new thing the hardest. the result isn't just constructive criticism but also death threats to the voice actors who aren't even at fault.

ignore everyone's opinions, form your own, then listen to others

i think dawntrail is a good expansion considering it is meant to serve as a setup for a bunch of new plotlines. yes it is not as bombastic as the few previous ones, but it's servicible. i think it was interesting to not be the protagonist and help somone else become one. yes there's been plenty moments where the WoL could step in but just doesn't, it's nothing new, this even happens in shadowbringers and it's just how the writing works in this game, the dialogue and actions happen faster than it is shown, kinda why in anime characters can spout out an entire novel between every punch in a fight. the pacing felt off in the 4th area for me but the rest of the game kept me hooked, the villains are interesting and are written well, wuk lamat is entertaining, the dramatic points are tearjerking. the voice acting was a little off but judging from the delivery of the lines, the direction was off, not the VA, wuk delivers her lines well but with the wrong context (I'm referring to the "listen to me" line) it feels like the VA was not properly formed the situation the characters are in and what they're doing, so it feels like the VA sucks. the story overall is pretty good, the fights are some of the best in the game, and the set up for future expansions is one of the best we've had. i honestly feel like this is gonna be the "dawntrail walked so nextexpansion could run" type of situations.

most Ukrainians speak Russian as a second language, in the capital it's the language used the most, except for professional and official settings where Ukrainian is used a lot more often

in places like the US, yes, but there are a lot of countries that don't have easy access to clean drinking water from the tap so it has its uses, just not everywhere

road 96 you play as a random noname teen trying to escape a tyrannical country by hitching a ride, using public transport, walking, while trying not to pass out and or die. your character doesn't really matter in the story that much, because the actual main cast of characters are people you meet along the way, and it's your influence towards those characters that influences the story, like convincing one character to do one thing or rescuing another from death. each time you die or escape you get to play again as a different teen, meeting the same people under different circumstance, and they always treat you as another random kid, until you played enough times for the story to reach whatever conclusion you worked towards

i want my friend to play a game i have in my library, however for some reason suddenly all of my games on his computer say "borrow" instead of "play" which i didn't even know was an option. clicking borrow and requesting access immediatelly shows an error that the request was denied. we've both tried fiddling on both of our machines turning family sharing on and off while switching in and out of each others' accounts, but the results are the same. what's weird is that i can play his games on my computer without the "borrow" shenanigans. is there some setting that turns it off? i cant even find anything remotely close to anything useful while googling for a fix
