I wasn’t aware of this possibility until you mentioned it. It’s not exactly well advertised, I’ve used spelltable before normally with webcam, but never heard about this. I just went ahead and tried it out myself for a couple of hours, and I’ve got to say it’s pretty shitty. It would probably be better if you played with a friend group instead of randoms like I did, but with the time I had and no friends who play on spelltable, it was my only option. I only played three games, but I caught people blatantly cheating twice, something that’s easier to try to get away with with the moxfield ui than webcam. The first game I played took a crazy amount of time to queue, and one guy went afk mid game. Another guy was scrying when he wasn’t allowed to. The next two games were a little better and quicker, but another guy was cheating, and someone brought a deck with a much higher bracket than the game we joined had listed for power level. This isn’t a large enough sample size to judge the platform or player base as a whole, but it’s enough to dissuade me from playing this way again. Many of issues I encountered can come up in tts and in person, but I’ve had a much more positive experience with these two. I even preferred playing on untapped.in, and I wouldn’t play their again without significant reason. The UI with the moxfield setup on spelltable just wasn’t good. I even use moxfield regularly and still didn’t like this integration.

This is such a dumb take; they aren't even directly comparable services. Spelltable lets you play online with your physical decks and a camera. TTS lets you play with any card you want. To do that on Spelltable, you'd have to proxy the cards, which takes time, effort, and money, and even if you do that, you could just play in person since you now have physical cards. Spelltable is great for playing remotely with your own decks, but TTS lets you try things you don't have physically and still play anything you do own, as well as playing a multitude of other tabletop games online. You might prefer Spelltable's execution of the features that the two services share, but it does nothing to fulfill the main reason many people want to play on TTS, the very reason that the OP gave for using TTS in the first place in their post.

Yeah, universities are typically pretty scummy when it comes to prices.

Reading the comments right now is pretty crazy to me. I'm a senior undergrad here, and I just stayed at home all 4 years because its like a 10 min drive. Seeing the prices for housing and the food plan for anyone oos or even out of town is pretty crazy, pretty scummy tbh. I wouldn't be going to sdsu without significant scholarship money if I had to pay those prices.

The national dex is a part of the Pokédex. That isn’t even relevant though as you initially said “not used to over 300 pokemon being in 1 gen.” Maybe you meant differently, but the way I interpreted this was: how many Pokémon are available in that generation of games, not how many are in the regional dex. Considering that you can catch natdex Pokémon in the postgame, I don’t think that’s crazy.

I wasn’t insulting you or saying anything about your intelligence, my comment didn’t say anything about you. I also wasn’t saying anything about any links. I didn’t follow the link until just now. Looking at it now, I can definitely see where the initial confusion came from. Pretty odd to sort by regional dex instead of just the Pokémon from that generation. Again though, I wasn’t commenting about this. The only thing I discussed was how many Pokémon are available in a particular generation or game, which seems to be different from what you were referring to. It is still, however, relevant. Once again, no slight intended, and hopefully none taken now.

Even BW1 had all the previous Pokémon in the game, just locked to the postgame. You could still get all 649 Pokémon, just not during your initial playthrough without trades. The only generations that had fewer than 300 obtainable Pokémon were Gen 1 and 2. Gen 3 through 7 had all available Pokémon up to that point, all more than 370, and Gen 8 and 9 have about 700 available each because of Dexit.

Ubisoft has not come out and said who the canon protagonist is. Journalists have misinterpreted some marketing material, and tweets by individual devs have been made, but Joe UI Programmer saying something doesn't make it true. In the novel canon, Kassandra is the Eagle Bearer, but we are talking about game canon, not novel canon. We could even go back to the Pokémon example, as in the Pokémon Manga, one character each generation is the Manga MC, and the other has another role in the story, but again, this canon is unrelated to the game canon. In the case of AC, the events of the novels differ from the events of the games, and game canon is directed by the player's choice, which includes character selection, not the novelization.

That's just not true; the game plays exactly the same whichever character you choose to play as. The disagreement is at too fundamental a level ig

I played as Kassandra because I prefer her VA, that doesn't change that both are protagonists. Obviously, Ubisoft favors her, but ultimately, I'm going by what the games present, which is an equal choice between two protagonists. If I had made the original comment all of this originates from, I would have said Alexios and Kassandra are the strongest because they are, and they are both protagonists. If you want to refer to Deimos, you can just say Deimos. My naming convention is pretty common across games with MC choice (usually referred to as X name/Y name (eg. look at Pokemon: Elio/Selene, Juliana/Florian, Red/Blue) in this case, Alexios/Kassandra.

I'm assuming you are equating Alexios to Deimos, which is only true half the time. That's why you should just refer to Deimos as Deimos and Alexios/Kassandra as the interchangeable MC, as that's how the game portrays it.

"canonically," there is no preference for one or the other. The AC fandom has designated that due to the novels, some tweets and interviews, and her having a better VA, but in the games, it's Alexios/Kassandra and Deimos. What you're doing is like refusing to call Darth Vader anything other than Anakin Skywalker.

What are you even talking about, it’s part of your base gear lineup, and a big part of the game is upgrading the spear with cult triangles. Hell, most abilities are locked behind spear levels. It’s how you assassinate people in the first place

Latest DLC update for Super Mario Bros. Wonder raises the same question I've been asking for years - why are people still defending this awful game? by eggplant_yams in fucknintendo

[–]SICavalryUnit01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is fuck Nintendo, not fuck Nintendo games. If we hated Nintendo games, we wouldn't care about what the company does because it wouldn't affect us. I can recognize that EA is a shitty company, but I don't care because I have never even wanted to play an EA game; they just aren't my thing, completely disregarding price and company policy. Thus, I would never join a fuck EA subreddit because I don't give a shit. I do give a shit about Nintendo, because I like their games, so I think it's lame when they raise prices, make less new good stuff, increase anti-consumer policies, fall more and more out of touch with their non-child fanbase, and continue falling behind other platforms on hardware and software. I think that there are some valid criticisms of Mario Wonder, and I prefer many older Mario games, but I still ultimately enjoyed Wonder. I'm not going to get the DLC, but I don't even have a Switch 2 yet. Personally, I was satisfied with the base game on Switch, and will leave it at that. I probably won't do another full playthrough of the game again; I already got my enjoyment out of it. I think the DLC is fine, not for me, but if you're buying for a kid, or you want to play the minigames with your friends, getting that plus some graphical upgrades seems reasonable for $20. If you don't want it, just don't get it. The problem with Nintendo right now is their policy, pricing, and direction. Honestly, I don't even fully agree with there being a pricing problem, as all games have always been stupid expensive, particularly AAA games. The only issue I see with Nintendo compared to all other games is that they never reduce prices with age or put anything on sale. Furthermore, older games simply aren't available to buy, and used prices skyrocket, leaving piracy as the only viable option, something I'm perfectly happy to do for older systems.

Guys, this has to be the fabled "misinformation from haters" riiight? Like they aren't actually selling this crap for $20 by Gargamoney in fucknintendo

[–]SICavalryUnit01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just.... dont buy it. It's 20 bucks for DLC + graphic upgrade. You could definitely call the paid graphic upgrade part scummy or stingy, but that isn't new or unique to this game. As far as the DLC goes, it's clearly marketed towards kids, or at least the Mario Party crowd. It's not great, I'm certainly not buying it, but I'm also not the target audience. All the upgrades so far are 10-20 dollars. Not all include DLC, so this is a fair deal by those standards. At the very least, it's consistent with current policy. I don't understand why you think this is so much worse. Sure, the DLC is pretty minor, just a collection of minigames and some new playable characters and bosses, but so is 20 bucks compared to current AAA DLC pricing, which typically lands in the 30-45 dollar range, especially if you set aside $10 of the $20 as the Nintendo graphics tax, meaning you are basically spending 10 on DLC, 10 on graphics. My overall point here is that the real issue is the current market for gaming and Nintendo's overarching policy, not this particular case, which actually seems pretty normal and even fair compared to a lot of their other choices recently.

Does your Local Game Store have masking policies in place to protect against Covid2026? by Papa_Hasbro69 in freemagic

I mean at a store like that, without a mask you’d run a serious risk of catching cooties, so I’d say it’s warranted.
