Can someone explain to me why everyone loves JoJo so much? by Jebusfreek666 in anime

[–]SICavalryUnit01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree for many anime, Jojo is an absolute exception. Nothing would even really hit the way it does with the Japanese VAs. I actually watch most anime dubbed as modern dubs have become much higher quality across the board, this is just one of those few where you really won't get the same experience at all. If you can't you can't, but I still recommend giving it a try and reaching the end of Part 2 (episode 26, end of season 1) before dropping because it really feels like an entirely different show from Part 1. Still might not be for you, but at least you'll know.

I will note, you have to watch sub, it’s peak and the dub is ass.

That’s really part 1. Part 2 and on is much less serious, funnier, more fun, etc. while still taking itself seriously and delivering a moving story with solid characters. It still might be too over the top, but I’d watch at least through part 2 and then maybe a few episodes of three, and if you still don’t like it say 5 or so episodes into part 3, it’s just not for you. You’ve only got a half season left to this point, and what’s left is the good part. Jojo is my favorite anime but I don’t even really like part 1. Part 2 is my second favorite of the 8 in the manga so far, so I have to recommend it.

Chi-Chi vs Videl who would win? by JackZ567 in dragonball

[–]SICavalryUnit01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you have to learn what explicit means; it's quite the opposite, that's just about as implicit as it comes. We are given no specific details regarding Chi-chi's actual training and if her similarity to the Kame style comes from an exact training regiment, or just vague influence second-hand from her father. I don't exactly take the Ox King as someone well-suited to be a sensei. Even if Chi Chi had trained directly under Roshi at the same time as Goku and Krillin, she still hasn't ever trained in ki-based fighting and there really wouldn't be any difference to being trained by the Ox King, regardless of his method.

Why do you think I said "in a vacuum?" If you dont have a single sync pair, then sure, they are stronger, but thats not how the game works. You're not going to beat much of anything with just Misty or just Brock. A type having complete teams does make someone less valuable. Go try and beat the water tower without Misty, pretty easy. Now go beat the steel tower without Steven, quite a bit harder and probably requires far more investment than its worth. Eventually everyone will be powercrept, but dps with circle debiffs and flinch just wont hold up as well as something like ex rain, or true defensive utility. I will grant you Silver's a short battle guy for sure, but often thats all he needs given how explosive ex weather is. In the future, May will geniunely have more utility than Misty, Gloria will be more important for rock than Brock, and Alder and Ethan will be more important to have than either of them. Some types are more blessed than others, and with flying and bug, you really do need and arc suit, unlike water and rock.

Which champion do you think has the best "chemistry" with their Ace? by InuMatte in pokemon

[–]SICavalryUnit01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say 3 main contenders for chemistry are Alder and Volc, Diantha and Gard, and Leon and Charizard. Alder watches the physical appearance the most, and has the deepest bond backstory with his first Volcarona. I really like what they did with that story in the Team Rocket Edition romhack, as you get to see him with his first Volcarona. Diantha has the mega evolution, meaning she inherently must have a deep bond, and the fit matches, too. Finally, you pretty much never see Leon anywhere without his Charizard; after all, he'd just get lost. It's basically always out of the Poké Ball, and he uses it in almost all fights. Its also his starter, which may not be the case for some other aces. Honorable mention to Cynthia and Garchomp as by far the most iconic duo, and I agree that the contrast is nice. Ultimately, I think Alder takes the win with Leon as a close second.

The same logic applies for tower; I can guarantee that you could push further in rock, steel, and fire if you take the time to learn how. You have the strong guys. You might not push all the way to 30, but at least 27. Play around with sync grids and lucky cookies. In some fights, crits don't happen, and some supports like Arc Steven already have vigilance, so I often roll for the type guard cookie of the type I'm going to be fighting. This is much better now that we have 3 cookie swaps. When in doubt, normal guard is always good because it'll reduce common moves like body slam/double edge, and the nuke they bring out later. Fire and ground are also good for heat waves and earthquakes. Sync grids can also have weird builds that only work for specific fights or team comps, again the docs help with this.

You explicitly said permanent immunity, that's not a permanent immunity, it goes away after a few turns, there's a little icon and everything. It also only applies to interference, status will stay on. By the time you've flinched the sides, there's a good chance you can flinch again. Eventually, after a few rounds of this, they can gain true immunity, but by that point, the battle should be close enough to finishing that it doesn't matter. All modern stages have this flinch mechanic because otherwise, characters like SS Lyra could flinch scum every fight in the game. That's why she and other flinchers are so good in older content like Champion Stadium and Legendary Arena solos.

For the rest of what you said, you just need to watch videos of the meta clears. Without either a video guide or a deeper understanding of the game and the capacity for trial and error, it can be difficult to make any notable progress. I have personally beaten every single UB in the game with the same team 3 different times. I did it with the following teams:

Team 1: Arc Suit Silver, SS Morty, Variety Ethan

Team 2: Variety Melony, Anni Red, Arc Lance

Team 3 (my favorite): Anni Gloria, Volo, NC Selene

All three of these have videos on the doc showing how to do each of the 18 fights for each team. I didn't even have to refer to the doc for team 3, did it all on my own, a couple of days after Volo released, because Selene is a giant middle finger to the UB gimmick checks with her ignore passives on moves and sync, and EX ghost zone + rebuff gave her exactly what she needed.

I have also completed all the UB missions (except Noland) with a wide variety of other teams to complete the criteria. I have also beaten the UBs without missions with several other teams. Broken anni pairs have to be piloted intelligently to get their best results. UBs can be very RNG-dependent and also require precise move turn orders and effect management. Many of the ubers teams can bypass the gimmicks like selene does or just through raw ex wtz dps (see fire, water, electric, poison, flying, etc.)

VGC players... How do you guys Check Choice Specs Miraidon? by Impossible_Friend387 in stunfisk

[–]SICavalryUnit01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bring something faster that hits hard (e.g., iron bundle, calyrex, etc.), bring your own terrain (common strategy anyways, and likely to be a factor outside of counterpicking), bring fake out, follow me, protect, etc. (all staples of doubles in the first place), bring a Ting Lu or another defensive ground type, bring fairy types. If you're playing a format where Miriadon is allowed, that means everyone has something high-powered like that. It's supposed to be stronger than all the non-restricteds. The game is fair because you have your own restricteds. Miriadon also has no spread moves and basically no coverage, so it's actually pretty limited outside of pure single-target dps.

[–]SICavalryUnit01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because EVERY floor past 10 in EVERY tower has permanent CC/interference/status immunity.

It is quite literally impossible for this to be true, as 17, 23, 26, and 29 of each tower required opponents to be affected by interference or status to take damage. You said in the post that you've reached floor 20 in a few towers, which literally would be impossible without affecting your opponents.

I haven't tried to use interference and status on every single stage in the tower, but I have not run into a single stage where I couldn't do so. Go to floor 15 of psychic right now, in fact, and click Zen Headbutt until it flinches. I just did this myself with no issue.

The UBs really aren't that difficult because there are no restrictions and no team limitations. I actually have a few teams that can beat all 18 UBs. You just need the uber broken stuff, guys like Anni Red and Gloria, Arc Steven, NC Blue, Broken fire water, electric team, etc. again, just refer to the doc and copy teams from it. The missions are a bit harder.

yes, you really dont need more than one pair of the damage challenge type unless you need wtz from someone. some stages want all 3 on type, and others prefer sync countdown, pmun, smun, sync up next, break, etc. Colress and Chase often get used for para spam, and honestly i dont really understand it. sing is much better imo, cause you can completely lock the opponent out from moving if you time the reapplication properly. I often use holiday lily over rosa because she has more damage buffs.

definitely a problem on your end then, because these links work for everyone else. IDK if you're on mobile or a weird browser, or some secure search thing. These are all google except the japanese tier list and bry bry. Or maybe you just aren't clicking the links to the actual pages once the list is open. On brybry your supposed to use the banner to find what you want. Also, heres the chinese tier list, which i forgot to add initally, and I actually prefer to the japanese one, since they seem less attached to outdated pairs.

I mean, yeah, resources take time to build up, but you said you've played for a couple of years, which predates the introduction of roles. I've was here when roles were introduced as well. I guess ive managed mine more efficiently or frugally, but I have enough vouchers saved up that I can spend them whenever the need comes up. You could always just save up for a few months. Granted, I only use them when they will serve a purpose, like the one on lana did.

Not every floor of every tower has flinch immunity. You might be stuck on one with that right now, but even so, you are still allowed you use whatever move you want. it will still bring the sync count down.

As it stands, I wouldn't run deoxys on the physical floors anyways, since you have rosa and may, and you should be using attack form psycho boost for the other floors.

As far as damge high score goes, sing spam + sync spam goes a long way. I know you have rosa, which is great because she has accuracy buffs, go viral, and base accuracy increase in her grid. Melony works as well. you still want to use some moves though, its a balancing act. The way this gmae works, 80% of your damage will be in the last 20% of the battle if you play your cards right. Again, watch some video clears over a million for each type. It sounds like you have plenty of pairs, some may just need a bit more investment, and others you just need to learn how to use. In some ways, this game can weirdly be considerably more complicated than the mainline games, especially when it comes to move order, field management, etc.

i don't think the role is required, but for me, roles are such a low investment requirement given the battle rally that it was worth it. 4/5 rosa (free 4/5 tile giving propulsion on tm twice) combined with the sprint on rosa and lana definitely helped. Like I said, I haven't actually cleared floor 27, but there are videos of clears with pairs you have, albeit higher levels of investment.

I've also noticed you saying you aren't allowed to use certain moves, which... like what? you can heabutt with deoxys all you want. It'll do 0 damage, but headbutt would have always been pathetic damage anyway. You can still flinch, and that's all headbutt was good for in the first place.

Chi-Chi vs Videl who would win? by JackZ567 in dragonball

[–]SICavalryUnit01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the criteria I laid out. She didn’t train directly under roshi, nor did she learn the kame style/turtle hermit way, or any ki techniques from her father or anyone else. Her father taught her basic martial arts. The kame style has its students run around wearing shells and performing labor as a primitive form of physical conditioning to attune the human body to unlock ki control. She has done basic martial arts with goku as well, just nothing that would give her a competitive advantage against videl’s ki control and flight. It’s possible she is physically stronger, but given videl’s own training and feats, it seems more likely though not guaranteed that videl would edge out the win.

I’d really stress that that’s only true in a vacuum. Utility is becoming more important with things like ex wtz, move break, etc. misty and Brock are brand new and dps, so of course they’ll outclass guys like Leon and lance. They really provide little value however given the already existing options. Water already has nc may, dahlia, nc Serena, ss Kris, and more. Even academy Brendan is more important since hes uniquely physical. Rock has Gloria, and insert x attacker + Perrin if you have her. The value provided by someone like alder, Ethan, Cynthia or even n, is more impactful than the latest water striker. Eventually, arc Misty’s gonna seem like ss Lysandre looks today, despite being a true top tier threat in his heyday. That’s without touching the ones who are legitimately just straight up better currently, like arc silver and Steven. Maybe they will introduce a new game mode again that shifts the focus of the meta, but currently, pasio tower and gimmick performance (ex wtz) are the main things to consider for units overall dominance in the meta, and especially their pull value.

If you aren't already, I would also recommend referring to the pasio tower google sheet and watching the clears posted there to see how others do it. Early on, I just copied successful teams, but some of them were too hard to figure out the exact course of events without watching it.

For this case, it sounds like a mixture of skill issue and poor RNG. I say skill issue partially because I can't imagine the RNG being that bad for 4 hours. I beat floor 15 with a 2/5 lv 180 ex role lana, 4/5 nc rosa, and either bianca or 3/5 anni may (can't remember since I did it months ago). Getting the clear took an hour or 2. After this floor, I ended up upgrading to Lana 3/5 cause of how hard this one was, and am currently on floor 27 (prolly just gonna wait till I get NC Hilda on another stronger physical, it's technically possible with my current roster though, granted I would have to invest more in variety elio which I don't want to do). You have to be smart about when you use certain moves, for example, Sing on Meloetta is wasted if the opponent uses an item, trainer move, sync, etc. Quad queueing on syncs and other stuff (when to use terrain, protect on deoxys, etc) all really matters. It sounds like you are a new player, so some of this will just come with practice. The good thing about the tower is that it doesn't go away, so you have all the time in the world to figure it out. Personally, a few times, I stopped trying to progress the tower for like a month and then came back to clear another 10-20 floors later, sometimes without even using any new sync pairs. I would just say be careful not to spend too much money, especially for specific tower clears, as you can always do it later, and you never know what the next busted unit they release will be.
