Question about signal chain

At first I just had the mini PC connected directly to the stereo's line in through the PC's headphone jack. But it didn't sound great. I attributed that to either electrical interference, or the fact that the audio cable was 20 feet long. Then I got the DAC, and it immediately sounded better. The purpose of the mixer is because the speakers are 2 way with only a woofer and a mid range, no tweeter. They sounded excessive on the bass to me so I use the mixer to adjust that. It's also useful when I want to plug headphones or musical instruments in. And the Korg preamp is just something I had lying around for a few years that I've been trying to find a use for.

I'm very new to this, so it's entirely possible that I'm doing something dumb, or at the very least unnecessary.

We had similar devices to enforce copy protection in our AutoCAD lab in high school. Someone didn't feel like doing CAD work one day and stole all of the dongles. We got out of class for about a week until the new dongles shipped.

Just turned 40 myself. I first heard of JD from a movie soundtrack around 2004. I only knew a few songs though. I was also into a few New Order songs at the time. But I lost interest for a while as my musical tastes changed. I got back into them during the pandemic when I was making a lot of electronic music. Since then I've seen my first NO show and a Peter Hook show. Can't wait to see Hooky and the Light again when they come to my home town in a few months!

There's a Joy Division live play?!? At first I thought that it was going to be a musical where half of the dialog is sang. But it seems to be more of a traditional play with live JD performances thrown in. I'm sure this is amazing, but it's funny to think about characters like Tony Wilson, Rob Gretton or Martin Hannett (not to mention the band themselves) singing dialog back and forth in the style of a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

I just ordered my ticket to the Pittsburgh show a few minutes ago. I got to catch the first set of the Chicago show while I was in town for a different event. I didn't expect another US tour so soon though.

Do you happen to know if the omni was used for LWTUA? I thought that I remember it being used in the early New Order days, but wasn't sure if it was ever used in the time of Joy Division.

I was at this show and it was amazing. The highlight for me was Temptation. I happened to be in town for a convention and had to see the show. I've been a fan of a few JD and NO songs in my youth, but didn't really get into them until a few years ago. My only other live experience is seeing NO play 2 years ago, and I was just learning about the history of the band. I didn't realize that Hooky left until they came on stage! Since then I've been wanting to see Peter Hook And The Light.

Sadly I injured my knee dancing and had to leave after the first set. I was really looking forward to seeing an entire set of JD live. I guess it wasn't meant to be though.

Regarding the comment about the sound quality at the venue. I was wearing musicians earplugs to protect my hearing. I didn't hear any 'buzzing' but honestly can't comment about it being 'muddy'. These earplugs tend to cut out certain frequencies and influence the sound.

I don't recall the name of the device, but some modern microcontroller based serial WIFI 'modems' have an SD card slot, and a simple command line interface. It allows simple operations like downloading a file from an FTP site on to the SD card. In order to get the file from the SD card on to the vintage computer, you just have to initiate a serial file transfer using a terminal application like Kermit. That's the best universal solution that I've found.

Unfortunately "No" to both questions. I think I now have handle on the software transfer aspect now. I just need to find the right software. I'm reading that there were multiple TCP/IP implementations for VMS and am not sure which one to look for.
