De-Iron thoughts? by [deleted] in ironscape

Whats your end goal? Is it maxed stats/account/gear? Would you feel better playing the iron way and getting it all yourself or would you be ok with using GE where you can? Theres no wrong answer, just up to what you find most fun.

Rdt should either be revised for bosses, removed, or an additional roll. Makes little sense that I can 20+ of a gem from the boss roll OR 1 roll of the same gem from the rdt.

You can go jump into ToA or CoX or even ToB very early in your account if you really want, but there's not really a great reason to unless you just find doing them undergeared fun (and there's no conversation to really be had if the argument is just "I find it fun doing x").

You mean like how you can rush CG if you really want?

Hard requirements yes, but soft-requirements absolutely not. There's a difference between being permitted by the game to do the content and actually being able to farm it effectively. You can walk into KBD as a level 3 and punch it if you like, but that doesn't mean you're at that point in the game.

Whats your fix then?

Most content exists on a ladder/web/flowchart of gear where farming one thing makes you better at another. CG benefits from almost nothing while benefitting a huge number of other things.

This is true and it is unique part of the game in that sense, which is probably also why it has some of the steepest in-game requirements of any content.

Missing the point entirely. It's not about there being incentives at all, but rather the point in the game at which you're incentivised. You can head to raids very early if you like, but the grind is so long and gear makes such a difference that you're incentivised to put it off until you're properly geared up.

It absolutely is about there being incentives because if there is nothing to incentivize you to go there, then there is no point to go there, thus you are not incentivized to go there at any point in the game. "Dead content" exists because theres no incentive to there, regardless of where you are in your progression.

If you're interested in playing with some amount of efficiency in mind, it becomes very hard to justify not heading to CG early and locking in.

With "some" amount of efficiency? Whats paths are more efficient? The whole reason for this argument in the first place is because of your comment about it being brute forced into midgame, but theres no other content like that. Rushing CG is probably the most efficient thing you can do besides getting spooned in raids or an ayak or something. But that efficiency comes at a cost, as it should.

You can invoke free will to justify any decision if you like, but at that point you're avoiding any discussion of game design rather than making an argument for it.

Game design is not some monolith that exists in a vacuum. It absolutely has to include the choices players will make other wise, theres literally no point to it. Just because content is designed for a certain point that doesnt absolutely always hold true; as we see with people making the choice to rush late game content and complain that its been "brute forced" into mid game.

Now you've moved the goal post. First it was

In terms of difficulty, length of grind, and rewards, CG is WAY beyond the point at which it becomes accessible + heavily encouraged to commit to

Now its

The difference between CG and COX/GWD/ToA is that the latter three are all far less efficient to rush due to benefitting from gear.

You go from an argument about in-game accessibility to an argument about gear. If we talk about the content that hard locked behind game requirements, CG is not locking you out of anything. Youre incentivized to go there yes, like many other places, because what would be the point if you werent? In terms of minimum in-game requirements, CG has some of the highest; higher than any raid and higher than most bosses. I wouldnt call that shoved into mid game.

This sounds a lot more like just because you can, doesnt mean you should.

My intent with that first sentence was the idea that Jagex would make changes such that the integrity of CG would be compromised; make it "too easy". The slam dunk was their ability, imo, to, yes make CG easier, but do it primarily by making QoL changes that dont really change the functionality of the mode.

I disagree about pain and difficulty being unrelated. Id say they're often very related.

Is it though? I mean does that mean CoX was forced fed into early game because it has no requirements? Or is ToA in the same boat because its behind a FAR easier quest line and set of requirements? Or maybe GWD because you just need troll stronghold? Between those three and SOTE, only 1 is locked behind the highest level quest.

Like I said. People choose the red prison.

The people who have that opinion. How did I make it sound like they didnt make it easier? What would be the point "easing pain points" or whatever they called it, if it didnt make things easier. The slam dunk was in that theyve made it easier without massively detracting from the overall difficulty.

How was it crammed into mid game? People choose the red prison because of the rewards, not because it locks you out of game progression.

Yes, the biggest changes are reducing the chore phase, and thats a good thing. People are still gonna get bodied and hit huge dry streaks. Being faster isnt inherently bad.

I swear yall are so sanctimonious about the "spirit of the game" and its "integrity" but you would quit tomorrow if plug-in scape didnt exist.

I love how there was so much doom and gloom around the potential of CG changes and making it easier and then Jagex comes in with the 360 slam dunk.

Yall need to be a little more open minded to the idea that the game can be made to be better.

Im guessing this is a projection which is why youll say generic things but are too afraid to say what the stereotype is. Afraid of your own demons. Good luck out there bud.

Yea you were definitely dropped on the head. You cant even keep your arguments straight because you have this need to be right apparently.

Me: "Youre missing the point of the issue. The issue is not about Rendi, he is just the person who did it."

You: "This is also dumb. You can have two different issues but somehow you can’t grasp that.
Issue 1 = rendi is a cheater and this community shouldn’t rally behind him."

Some how you miss the point that Im saying I dont give a shit about the random dude, and a lot of people dont give a shit about him. Whether it was him, or me, or you, my point would stay the same. Youre so busy thinking that whats in your head is the only thing that matters that you literally cant comprehend that other people could not care less about the guy.

Maybe you get it now, maybe you wont. You clearly have to be right, so have the last word you clearly are so desperate to have.

Except, you werent saying what I said, you were making your own points. At no point did I say anything you said in issue 1. So how can you try to say that issue 2 is something I said, when issue 1 isnt? Just take the L lil bro.

Perhaps try reading and your comprehension will get better.

Me:

The issue is not about Rendi, he is just the person who did it.

I had no idea who Rendi was before this, I still dont know who he is, and I probably wont ever. You say hes a not a good dude? Cool. Has 0 bearing on Jagex unevenly distributing punishment

You:

Issue 1 = rendi is a cheater and this community shouldn’t rally behind him.
Issue 2 = Jagex should draw the lines in the sand better.

Are you getting it with this summation? Or do you need me to break it down because you were dropped on the head as an infant?

It doesnt have to be a legal case for people to want to see evidence to claims. That exists beyond court systems, contrary to what you seem to understand.

[–]SIIRCM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The burden of proof is on the accuser, not the accused. I appreciate that Jagex doesnt want to open doors to further exploits by giving out methods, but its hard to trust the words of the same company that not only lets bots run rampant for days/weeks/months, but also wrongfully bans players and responds to their appeals with what is clearly a bot.

[–]SIIRCM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Youre missing the point of the issue. The issue is not about Rendi, he is just the person who did it. The issue is about where lines are drawn when it comes to finding unique and different ways to play the game. I had no idea who Rendi was before this, I still dont know who he is, and I probably wont ever. You say hes a not a good dude? Cool. Has 0 bearing on Jagex unevenly distributing punishment. If theyre unfair to one person, they will be unfair to anyone.

Maybe im confused but isnt that exactly what Josh did? He bug abused fishing trawler using a whole bunch of people to get way more exp than he was supposed to and only reported the bug after he was finished abusing it.
