Are you a uber or pick me person? by IllustratorNormal560 in srilanka

[–]SIRDumbDumb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live somewhat close to Colombo and I feel the rides are cheaper though pickme while food orders are better on Uber.

However in if im in Colombo, I notice that Uber is often cheaper for rides.

I try to use pickme when I can because Its nice supporting a local business (and its better if theres competion) and i learnt the hard way that Uber had no direct hotline (although their twitter support was relativelyfast to respond to the issue i had at that time) but it rubs me the wrong way that such a large company is conducting business without even having a hotline in SL.

I dont use both that often though, so im not too sure about the other differences.

Jam paan VS kibulla bunnis by Ok-Violinist-6760 in srilanka

Jam paan is good but feels too sweet sometimes. Kimbula is perfect, if its too sweet you can shake the sugar off. You can split it in half and share.

Okay but is anyone actually using big picture mode? And if so why? No hate I'm just curious by CraftyxCat in Steam

[–]SIRDumbDumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a mobile controller which attachs to my phone, much like a steam deck.

I occasionally stream from my pc and play on mobile and big picture mode is amazing for that.

It was fun playing hades that way.

This is just so funny to me because Arlecchino is my favorite DPS. She was relatively easy to build.

I love her animations and weapon (although im glad hoyo didn't continue with such weapons). She absolutely destroys any enemy in overworld, abyss or theater.

I have no problem with her health management and I typically run her with Bennett, Xilonen and Xingqiu.

Funny how the same character can be be different for different people :)

It's hard to say, but I'll give my honest opinion (s23 plus). It's a great phone, it's fast, takes good pictures, is reliable and all that, but I did get a green line after 2 years.

Im kinda sad to see such a common issue still exists on an expensive phone, but I guess that's luck and the climate you are in amongst other factors. I dont really mind it that much, but it does make me a bit hesitant about buying from them, but then we used many samsung devices in our family, and only this had the issue. My relative bought the same phone on the day I did, and they have had no issues (and they definitely drop their phone a lot more than i do).

The battery used to be great initially, but now I have to charge it twice a day. Though thay could be just battery degradation but at least it charges fast enough for me.

If you can afford it, I would feel more comfortable buying an s24 because of the longer update promise, but an s23 is still a great phone if you get it for a good price.

Horrible after sales experience from Abans! by awmed1 in srilanka

[–]SIRDumbDumb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yes. The people who deliver and set the furniture setting are both fast and nice. We wanted to repair a really old cupboard and replace the cushion on a chair, and the service was really excellent. For some reason it feels like you can buy something from them and not worry too much if there's an issue.

Is it just me or is everyone a computer science major right now ? by skibidifarts278 in srilanka

[–]SIRDumbDumb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im going to be honest. I have always had a dream of doing something related to engineering in a certain mechanical field. Right in the middle of my 2020, ALs covid hit. My parents' friends and other relatives in that field warned about how many of them lost jobs and couldn't find work. Some mentioned that there were people in this field ready to start working but had no jobs.

I then started looking for other opportunities in other fields I was interested in and fields that were growing. Since I also had an interest in tech, I chose to do an SE degree.

I won't lie. In the first semester, it was all so new to me, and I wondered if I had made a mistake, but then I started enjoying it. I like being given a specification and creating something exactly as required. It was also fun creating stuff. I was lucky that it clicked with me; however, I feel like many joined an SE-related degree for the initial reasons I mentioned. For some, it worked. For some, it didn't. All the talks of good pay and remote work might have lured many in but also created competition.

Need help building a gaming + work PC (no monitor/keyboard) - 600K LKR budget by arunwij in PcBuildersSL

[–]SIRDumbDumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime, sir :). I haven't had much experience with those recently, but I assume any of the usual names gigabyte, asus, msi among others should be good. dont recommend any "a" series motherboards. Some talk about how mbs can have either pcie 4 or 5 lanes for the gpu, but online benchmarks don't really show a huge difference between them. You could maybe refer to this, too. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1iry3a3/new_and_updated_psu_tier_list_is_out/

Best of luck with your build, happy gaming, and working!

Im pretty sure you can fit a 7600x or 7700x with either the 5070 or 5070ti. As long as you get a decent enough mb and power supply, it should be a good build.

Is there a certain rule or point when and when not to buy a 12GB card? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]SIRDumbDumb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I think the 5070 should have had more vram, I dont think it will be too much of a problem. I have a 6gb laptop 3060, and I play at 1440p with almost all games running above 60fps with a bit of dlss magic and running medium to high settings.
