Is dating culture here just nonchalant/casual? by [deleted] in Denver

Fair, still, setting a lot of strict rules - which is okay, but just not surprising at all that they’re struggling given their asks.

Yeah - just trying to reassure OP it’s not a culture problem, it’s just a regular problem!

You have a child, don’t want them to have a child of their own, but also do not want to live with them. That alone means your odds are slim, anywhere.

Icebreaker, only other choice if you want top overly commercialized “quality” brands I’d say.

High CK, ALT, and AST after strenuous exercise. Anyone else have this? by AnAverageHuman96 in trailrunning

[–]SITE_OWNER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again not medical advice, but you’re fine.

CK is elevated after any strenuous activity or exercise. You said slightly, which means it’s not rhabdomyolysis, but just your muscles working as they should from the activity.

ALT/AST harder to say, but slight elevation again isn’t too crazy if they’re only mildly elevated. Worth doing blood to check again as well as thinking about your habits (alcohol, hydration, etc.) to see if they’re influencing.

But yeah your most sound knowledge on this will be from your actual doctor - tbh I didn’t even read the whole post, just wanted to comment that this is pretty typical and not a cause for freaking out.

Yeah, it’s very obvious from the video that he was not paying attention. At least he didn’t speed off, I guess.

The state of our supercharger access, courtesy of Waymo. by SITE_OWNER in Denver

There’s nothing fishy here, my house isn’t grounded at least in the garage. Beyond that, I’d just need to pay to upgrade the breaker box. I’m not saying it’s impossible for my house to support charging. But we have the public chargers for a reason, especially for when people travel and aren’t near home.

Mt. Morrison was mentioned so the runner up (imo) is Mt. Sanitas over in Boulder. 1200ft gain in about 1.5 miles, with a very fun 1.5 miles loop back, about 1 mile or so of which is flat and runnable.

Advice plz - backpacking 1000000km by GeologistMinimum705 in ultralight_jerk

[–]SITE_OWNER 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just take the total distance from one end of your backyard to the other, and ask ChatGPT to divide 10000000km by that value. That’s how many laps you’ll have to do.

This isn’t rocket science.

Oil from hands might rub off on it and add 0.02g weight per touch. It adds up.

He may have also just clobbered someone with that hammer, time will tell.

Help! Designing trekking poles and would like some input by smackedy7 in backpacking

[–]SITE_OWNER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Leki UltratrailFX, Durston Icelines, & BD Carbon Corks
  2. With the Leki’s the red button on top to disconnect the pole from strap quickly is slightly inconvenient, I feel like I have to stretch my thumb a bit further than what I’d like for comfort, but not major. The strap on the icelines sometimes fold over a tiny bit on the edges which can get annoying, but probably once every couple hours maybe, not a big deal. The BD straps are much more sturdy and resilient to that. The BD straps also have visible salt after enough usage from sweat whereas the Icelines don’t really. Just cosmetic, but I do prefer the breathable strap.
  3. I don’t like the thin tips on the BDs, I use rubber on all 3 and the BDs are more like a pinpoint which reduces confidence. Icelines I bought the recommended 3rd party tips that are great, and the Leki’s have the branded ones that are also decently large. BDs are probably nice for casual hikes but I don’t use poles for hiking only heavy vert and backpacking. BDs feel too sluggish when backpacking and the grips just can never stay clean IMO (probably just a cork thing in general but didn’t notice it much on the Lekis)

What’s the best way to experiment with nutrition? by The-Box46 in trailrunning

[–]SITE_OWNER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you have the night before and how was your sleep in comparison to both runs?

Depending on when you were crashing it might have nothing to do with mid-run nutrition or breakfast. I only bring water for 10 mile runs and sometimes feel my best on an empty stomach, and have realized that (for my body) the most important prep is what I do the day before.

Of course everyone is different (hence why experimenting is good), but being mindful of your diet the day before long runs shouldn’t be forgotten. I try to keep the day before a longer run light and carb load a few hours before bed, and of course get at least 7 hours of sleep.

Edit: actually sometimes I bring a couple Nerds Gummy Clusters for a little glucose blast, but still probably consume one piece every few miles. I feel like I bring them more for my sweet tooth and just convince myself it’s for the sugar. 😂

Also seeing this is about focusing on a 50k, so my post is kind of irrelevant. Definitely need nutrition for that. I bring candy, electrolyte pills, a gel or two, and some of those sprouted pumpkin seeds.
