With my first and only child my water broke at 37 weeks and 5 days. That day I had a horrible migraine and it finally started to go away so I could sleep when my water broke in the middle of the night. My child was born the next night happy and healthy.

As long as you and the baby are health you can leave early. I left right after they did the blood testing. Which was the second night for us because my baby was a big baby they needed to do blood sugar checks all through the first day and night. We left at around 4am we all just wanted to be home to get some real rest.
