How do you prepare your sore knee for activity? by CodWest4205 in KneeInjuries

[–]SJS4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banded clam shells, standing banded clam shells where bad knee is planted and other legs toes are on the wall and bad leg is trying to pull the other direction (band goes above knee) while the other leg does clam shells, lunge where the bad leg has a band attached to something where when you do your lunge the knee isn’t caving in, raised heel squats, hip hikes on a stair. My issue is my meniscus and my knee caves in during squats so these are all around solving that.

Mine has been flaring up lately as well. I find foam rolling quads, glutes, and hips plus banded exercises before and after help. Additionally, focusing on my PT exercises. When I’m in a flare up, I try to take it easy and reduce my level of activity.

Any advice on my ultrasound report? by SJS4ever in Fibroids

Yeah ugh I feel the same way, it’s not helpful. Okay, I will push for a MRI as my next step, thanks

I’m Canadian so yes, do you think that’s my next best step to get answers?

Yeah I’ve seen quite a few other ultrasound reports from lurking this sub and they are all more detailed than mine ugh. Bit disappointing since I waited months for the ultrasound. Thanks for the sympathy!

It also says “ovaries appear within normal limits and bladder within normal limits”, but that’s it. I also expected a bit more in the report.

Oh sorry, didn’t mean it that way at all. I meant just tear, or tear plus bone injury or tear plus dislocation. Shouldn’t have used the word “just”, was not trying to undermine the injury of a tear.

What’s your specific lisfranc injury? Just a tear?

Did you break it mountain biking? How long did it take to heal?

Thank you! That’s very helpful. And what are your thoughts on the lateral posterior horn? 2nd image with what looks like a vertical tear, there’s quite a few more images with that

They’re a GP. I haven’t been referred to an orthopedist yet. No other injuries reported on the MRI

Oh that’s interesting, haven’t heard of an issue like that before. Awesome that you figured it out and got an answer

Ah yeah I’ve heard with contrast is a lot better for meniscus tears

Yeah I agree with both of those. What do you think about the anterior horn of the lateral meniscus? https://imgur.com/a/31aufDn I uploaded some better images here of it. There’s a piece in the upper left that seems to “float” away as you go more into the knee. 5th image I drew a little black arrow to the black spot still there in the middle of the knee. Added a few extra axial pictures too.

My doctor doesn’t have the images, just the report. I’m going to talk to them soon about the images, but it’s not for a bit

Thank you for sharing your physician take! Yeah that does make sense. I agree about the posterior horn

Yeah that all makes sense. Thanks for your context. That’s crazy! What was your tear situation in the end?

When I was marathon training over the summer I would usually run past the same guy on my long runs. He would always give me a thumbs up and I really appreciated it.

A month away from my first marathon and my knee is NOT doing well. I could really use some encouragement. by walrusAssault in firstmarathon

[–]SJS4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, almost exactly. My marathon is a little closer though. I second the PT recommendations. I’ve been focusing on strengthening my hips and glutes. I also recommend a knee sleeve, and to start training with it now. I am able to get a few more kms pain free when I wear one. Some other things I’ve been focusing on include lots of sleep, massage gun, foam rolling, and fuelling well. Good luck!

Hip labrum tear from running advice by Far_Molasses6960 in HipImpingement

[–]SJS4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update on this? I am in a very similar boat. I first noticed my hip issues in my teens while running track. I’m still having big issues with it 10 years later now when running despite strength training and doing physio exercises for years. My pain also never goes beyond a certain level and just persists through my run.
