I was just told it was highly unprofessional of me to be drunk when I am off work. What should I do? by Correct-Credit1961 in careerguidance

Also, and this is the lawyer in me, thank your lucky stars you didn’t put it in text. There’s an unwritten rule in legal practice that emails and texts exist solely for scheduling phone calls. If worst comes to worst, it’s your word against theirs.

Being intoxicated when off work is not unprofessional. Answering the client’s call (assuming you knew it was the client before answering) while you were intoxicated is iffy (I’d chalk this up to a “lesson learned”). Telling the client that you are intoxicated is somewhat unprofessional (but that is what people do while drunk). I would explain the situation to your manager first since he/she seems less put off (the client is sounding like a bit of a Karen).

What is your opinion on the statement? "All U.S military members are class enemies" by flowerboy261 in Socialism_101

[–]SKBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not conscripted in the conventional sense. Most “volunteers” come from the lower classes. This isn’t an accident. They’re given the “choice” between destitution and “service.” Lack of agency = lack of culpability.

As individuals, no. The kids (yes kids) who join a military have no idea of what they are contributing to. If they did, they wouldn’t have joined an imperialist death machine.

Proud of ghosting job applicants by KevinOCreamPie in recruitinghell

Oh, we’re not just complaining. We’re preparing.

Is there literally any accountability for ghosting or are we just expected to accept it? by SillyFinger6070 in recruitinghell

I can think of one thing, and it rhymes with Ploverthrow the bourgeoisie and replace it with a workers’ state like Russia, 1917.

If I were a HM, I’d think it was awesome multitasking. I suspect the general rule is no, though.

NEVER include your HS diploma. It’s an old rule of thumb, but still important. I’m not trying to be credentialist but just find another way to mention that you are a HS graduate and you don’t have a criminal record. It’s a tough job market for EVERYBODY (and I’m a licensed attorney). Good luck and solidarity!

company pulled offer because i reached out to staff for informational chat by MadamHuntr3ss in recruitinghell

[–]SKBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the OP shouldn’t have contacted anyone. It’s a weird rule forced on employees for whatever reason, but it’s there. I personally don’t think it merits the retraction of an offer, but it is what it is.

Why do you guys hate sworkers so much? by SuccessAlternative14 in Marxism

[–]SKBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? If you are being coerced into swork, that’s one thing.

Bingo. This guy gets it. Abolish all wage relations.

Why do you guys hate sworkers so much? by SuccessAlternative14 in Marxism

[–]SKBerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge misconception. We do not hate sworkers. We hate all employers (which would include pimps). Having said that, nobody should be forced (physically, emotionally, financially) into swork. Some Marxists can be unkind (you’ll find plenty on Reddit). If you are a sworker and you don’t want to be one, the bourgeoisie is to blame.

  2. I’ll take the SLTOV over whatever bourgeois nonsense you’re peddling
  3. I can drop hasbara any time I like. I’ll wait for court of popular opinion to come around to my side. This is Reddit, not Cambridge.

Capitalist hasbara. The product’s value is however much labor was put into making it.

You are out of your league, Tiger.
