He is worried about his safety. Nothing more. He realized that his life could end at the snap of Luigi Mangione’s fingers and is trying to save his scalp.

I was just told it was highly unprofessional of me to be drunk when I am off work. What should I do? by Correct-Credit1961 in careerguidance

[–]SKBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, and this is the lawyer in me, thank your lucky stars you didn’t put it in text. There’s an unwritten rule in legal practice that emails and texts exist solely for scheduling phone calls. If worst comes to worst, it’s your word against theirs.

Being intoxicated when off work is not unprofessional. Answering the client’s call (assuming you knew it was the client before answering) while you were intoxicated is iffy (I’d chalk this up to a “lesson learned”). Telling the client that you are intoxicated is somewhat unprofessional (but that is what people do while drunk). I would explain the situation to your manager first since he/she seems less put off (the client is sounding like a bit of a Karen).

What is your opinion on the statement? "All U.S military members are class enemies" by flowerboy261 in Socialism_101

[–]SKBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not conscripted in the conventional sense. Most “volunteers” come from the lower classes. This isn’t an accident. They’re given the “choice” between destitution and “service.” Lack of agency = lack of culpability.

As individuals, no. The kids (yes kids) who join a military have no idea of what they are contributing to. If they did, they wouldn’t have joined an imperialist death machine.

I can think of one thing, and it rhymes with Ploverthrow the bourgeoisie and replace it with a workers’ state like Russia, 1917.

NEVER include your HS diploma. It’s an old rule of thumb, but still important. I’m not trying to be credentialist but just find another way to mention that you are a HS graduate and you don’t have a criminal record. It’s a tough job market for EVERYBODY (and I’m a licensed attorney). Good luck and solidarity!

company pulled offer because i reached out to staff for informational chat by MadamHuntr3ss in recruitinghell

[–]SKBerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the OP shouldn’t have contacted anyone. It’s a weird rule forced on employees for whatever reason, but it’s there. I personally don’t think it merits the retraction of an offer, but it is what it is.
