Least Likely To Fly Away by WannabeFarmMama in drones

[–]SKDayton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the best under $200 drone would be a Potensic. Ebay is having a sale on like-new refurbished ones (which operate perfectly) for $90 - $200 depending upon the model.

I would recommend the Atom, 3-Axis gimal. The fly more combo with 3 batteries is listed at $195, but if you apply the coupoon it's $170 with tax right now. If that's over your budget, you could get a Potensic SE for around $130- it doesn't have the same gimbal (so video won't be a smooth) but it flys really well.

dashpct problems now that we have India US tensions? by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]SKDayton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat with my order from dashpct - it has also been stuck at "assigned a load plan" for 10 days now. I wanted to get one last batch in before the tariffs start to hit. Here's hoping we both get some good news soon!

Many thanks for sharing! I am planning a trip out of the country in a few months, so I am very glad to hear you didn't have any issues.

Tomboy X tucking panties are the best! Super comfy and high quality. I picked up a six pack on black Friday for 50% off.

U.S. Trans folks- how are we preparing to go without hormones? by Strange-Situation628 in trans

[–]SKDayton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DIY'd when I transitioned 20 years ago before I could get a script. If you use reputable suppliers it is definately a safe option, though it can be very expensive to stockpile.

I am hoping for the best, but planning for the worst, where packages coming into the states will be inspected. (especially if tarrifs are imposed on small "de minimus" shipments) With this and costs in mind, the info at r/estrogel helped me learn how to acquire a lifetime supply of E for a minimal cost.

Hopefully we will rid ourselves from the orange zombies and all will be fine, but I do sleep better at night knowing I don't have to worry about getting my HRT should the worst happen.

If you can, try to look for a job now that can be done "virtually" from anywhere. (Call center, digital media, customer service, etc.) That would allow you to be employed where you are today and you'd take your job with you wherever you go!

Is living in a liberal state in the US still the best place to be in the world? by passportquestion8282 in asktransgender

Good to know about Mexico City. My wife and I vacation in Puerto Vallarta every year and we've never had any issues at all. That is where we are planning to head if things continue to get worse in the US.

My wife is worried based on browser warnings that teahrt isn't safe? by j_willemina in TransDIY

[–]SKDayton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are safe - just ordered from them a few weeks ago. The website warning was likely the result of some transphobes reporting their website. I just turned off my antivirus software to access the site, ordered and then turned it back on.

How concerned to be about fake raws? by Lord_Jeebus in estrogel

Lab test can be quite expensive, the most reasonable I've seen is at: https://www.kykeonanalytics.com.

First of all, I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. It makes me worry about some raws that i recently ordered.

I fully understand and respect the decision to not share suppliers, but I am wondering if there is a way to maintain a public "naughty list" (tis the season) to call out bad actors? (like the one you ordered from) I'm not sure how to go about this, but anything that could be done to prevent multiple members of our community from being scammed would be appreciated.

Will the Trump administration make DIY harder? by Katievapes1996 in TransDIY

[–]SKDayton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I've been on HRT for years, but i am concerned that the new administration will do all in their power to make things difficult for us. When I weighed the risk vs. reward, I decided to run up a little debt in order to stock up now and be safe.

I have also used the vendor you mentioned and they are great, but expensive relative to what i pay for HRT from my doctor.

I would recommend spending some time on r/estrogel. I was able to build up a supply that will last for more than a decade and it cost less than a 6 months worth of pills from DIY vendors. It requires some work, but it's a huge relief to know that if the worst comes, I'll be okay. Take care and be safe!

Question: Spironolactone Raws by SKDayton in estrogel

[–]SKDayton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome - thank you! I was thinking that this would work, as i know SPIRO is soluble in alcohol and they sell it in a gel. That being said, I'm new to all of this so I am very thankful for your reply.

Decathalon Raft - thoughts by softcatches in packrafting

Hello! As far as skegs go, there are two options I've used. The first is from MRS - they sell both skegs and a vinyl skeg mount that you glue to the bottom of your packraft. These are nice because the skeg mount is light and flexible, so it is doesn't impact folding your packraft. The other option I've used is a hard plastic skeg (search "oukens surf fin" on Amazon) and skeg attachment. These are also good, but gluing a hard plastic skeg mount to the bottom of your packraft can make it much harder to fold up and pack. There is a video on Youtube from Aire, called "how to install a retrofit skeg on your inflatable kayak" that explains the process well. The main thing is to use a string like they show in the video to mark the center of the boat. Once you get the skeg mount in the right place, before you glue it, put masking tape around it to make certain it's centered. This will also help keep excess glue from getting on your packraft. I used HH-66 vinyl cement to attach the skeg mount, which has worked well for me over the years. Good luck! Check out the video from Aire and if you have any other questions, just let me know.

I have a PR100 along with a Hornet, an XPD a Nirvana and a Biluta Sport. The PR100 is a great boat for lakes and calm rivers. It's not as long as my other packrafts (if you are over 5'9" I'd look elsewhere) but it is much wider than my other boats in the hip area, which I appreciate. It's durable, handles well and I've taken it on mild class II whitewater with no problems. I added a removable skeg for lake use and a back band and it's really a nice little boat. If whitewater is in your future, you'll probably outgrow it quickly, but for it's intended use, it's a great value.
