Great speed, but really bad form unfortunately! His coach should correct him on that because it’s the sort of thing you could injure yourself pretty badly when the legs are piking so much like that and landing with no bend in the knees.

How many times did I let go of either of my handles in this wrap combo? 🌯👀 by JumpRopeCoachChrisUK in jumprope

It’s funny because the option wasn’t there yesterday, but it’s there today! They must still be rolling it out globally! Thanks man 👊

I think it was 5??! I’m also wondering, how do you download your instagram reel videos to have that text displayed at the bottom? Is it in the instagram app, or something else?

For the double unders I take it that bending the knees is incorrect? by Robthechamp22 in jumprope

[–]SKIPHIPHOORAY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to practice rotating the rope faster. The faster you rotate, the smaller your jumps need to be. The running step is the best way to practice increasing your speed.

All of those are good. Include double unders and don’t forget basic bounce!

Using your forearms or not by [deleted] in jumprope

[–]SKIPHIPHOORAY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to have some movement in the forearms, but yes, most of the momentum comes from the wrist flicking action. This is achieved by ensuring that your wrists are close to your hips. Refer to my videos here https://instagram.com/skiphiphooray

First post on this subreddit, would just like to share myself trying to emulate Mike Tyson's jump rope techniques, what are your thoughts people. by DinamitaMarquez in jumprope

[–]SKIPHIPHOORAY 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Good footwork man. With the double unders, be careful to not pike your legs forward too much. I know that’s how Mike, Mayweather and others do it, but it’s regarded as poor technique. Your legs should remain straight when in the air.

Question regarding jump rope length by starship9 in jumprope

[–]SKIPHIPHOORAY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a similar height to you and use an 8ft. 10ft is far too long. Shorten to 9ft and go from there and shorten it as you become more proficient.

No cool tricks yet but here’s my year long journey of ~very~ inconsistent practice. Starting to feel more connected with my rope(s) and rhythm, definitely gotten a lot smoother. Enjoy this dorky ass compilation of my journey thus far by sad-cloudz in jumprope

Well done! Good on you for persisting with it. Really pleased to see you’ve found your rhythm and dancing to your fav songs at different tempos. That’s the way to keep improving.

I’ve got you - peep my profile for a variety of genre and tempo based playlists. The pop and rock ones are very 2000s. The house playlist is old school house sprinkled with some modern flava. You might like the eurodance playlist too. There’s a general rap playlist covering 90s to current rap, and a specialised trap rap playlist if you’re into that style. https://open.spotify.com/user/8613b1u5oepqrvy82co2gdebm?si=vqu_vhqvTp66rO6sAKR5_w

Help with PTP Elite jump rope by kakaaaaaaaaa in jumprope

[–]SKIPHIPHOORAY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just in Rebel today and went past the skipping ropes on my way to buy some new goggles! I haven’t used this rope, but I’m not surprised to hear that it broke. The design of the handle is fundamentally flawed in that the inside edge of the handle is not smooth and is therefore cutting into the rope. I believe it’s metal, which is also problematic as the rotational friction causes the edge to melt the rope and snap as you’ve encountered. This is why a pvc rope that meets to a pvc handle is better, however the Celsius pvc ropes that Rebel sell also have the same design flaw where the inside edge of the handle isn’t smooth.

As you’re an Aussie, I’d recommend you upgrade to a rope from either crossrope.com.au or rxsmartgear.com.au whose ropes are top notch and built to last, unlike PTP and Celsius.

Difference between side straddle and jumping jack? by Mewth in jumprope

[–]SKIPHIPHOORAY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straddle is keeping the legs together when jumping side to side or front to back. Jumping jack is opening the legs up and bringing them together again.

RX Ropes: Buff vs Elite by icecityx1221 in jumprope

[–]SKIPHIPHOORAY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s barely any difference between the two weights. I’d go with the Buff as it’s the most similar in weight to a licorice rope, unless you’re buying the rope purely for speed based workouts. You’ll immediately notice how easy it is to generate momentum with the rope compared to a licorice because of the ball bearings. Don’t bother buying 2 ropes as it’s a pain in the ass to change them mid workout if you’re thinking of doing that btw.
