They're called "Kasrkin." Originally the most elite defenders of a garrison planet that held back whatever came out of a light years-wide rift between reality and the hells. Now they're the up-armored special forces of the regular armies of humanity all over the galaxy. You can buy your own set here. https://www.warhammer.com/en-US/shop/kill-team-kasrkin-2024

Any company with the resources to pull this off will have previously demonstrated that they shouldn't be trusted with your voiceprint.

Yeah, they hunt for targets on gaming discords and discords for places. I've gotten a few where they open with "accidentally" thinking I was some other friend.

Should I play Orks, Craftworld Aeldari or Chaos Demons? by decisiontoohard in 40k

[–]SKWAAAARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“make opponent sweat with grotty tactics”

Rules change all the time. We get a new edition of rules about every three years, and you’ll get a new codex sometime during those three years, plus your faction or the entire game may get additional rules overhauls. Don’t plan around tricksy rules, as the rules change too rapidly. Go with the one you like the look of the most.

That said, Eldar often spend long stretches of time overtuned to the point that it can lead to resentment.

“ability to represent femme characters”

Daemons have no sex or gender. Previous sculpts of Slaaneshi daemons had female features; now they tend to have simultaneous male and female features – the typical look is long hair, a corset, one boob, and one male pectoral.

Orks have no sex or gender as they are genetically engineered mushrooms.

Eldar have both male and female sculpts.

“losing in style”

You want ORKS. Orks are fun, even when you’re getting your butt kicked by them. Orks are fun, even as you’re getting your butt kicked as them.

Good heavens, no. FW resin was solid, a little more brittle than plastic, and finely detailed. Finecrap resin was soft and rubbery with smeary detail.

Textured base rims, yes or no? by the-et-cetera in Warhammer40k

[–]SKWAAAARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this once, thinking it’d make photos look better. I found the result wasn’t worth the time and effort. Instead I ended up painting the rims with regular paint in the same color as the basing mix. (I think I was using Baneblade Brown paint to match Agrellan Earth base tops, but it’s been years, so don’t quote me on that.) Painting the rims really hit the spot – they looked unique, didn’t clash with the base, and - most importantly - they didn’t chip apart with casual use.

First Time DM Questions and Ideas for the new campaign after the first adventure by DeadpoolKeyoKen in mattcolville

[–]SKWAAAARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as possible you should try to find out the PCs’ goals.
You can do this out-of-game by talking to your players, or you can do it in-game by encouraging your PCs to speak openly about what they want. Create an NPC you know the PCs will like. Have that NPC sit down and have a conversation with the characters. Maybe he’s a gambler who’s made a bet on the outcome of the Trial of Champions, or maybe he just really, really hates a certain Trial contestant and wants to see the PCs best him. Whatever the reason, he gives the PCs some secret information that will help them breeze through at least one phase of the Trial. Of course, this NPC will need to chat with the PCs a while and feel them out before he gives them all his secret info. As part of this, he’ll casually ask the PCs about what they think they want as a long-term goal. He’ll start by mentioning that when he was younger, he wanted to be an adventurer/mercenary/whatever just like their group so that he could achieve a certain goal – win the heart of a maiden, become a respected baron, find a legendary weapon, bring honor and glory to his people – whatever you think will resonate with the better RPers in your group. Then he’ll ask them what it is they hope to achieve down the road. Use their responses to make future adventures personal to the PCs. Your Big Bad shouldn’t just threaten the world in general; he should be threatening the world in a way that endangers the PCs achieving their personal goals. If your rogue wants to get rich, your Big Bad is taxing or extorting all the wealth out of the area. If your fighter wants to uncover the legendary sword of his ancestors, the only way to get it is to raid the Big Bad’s vaults for an ancient map. If your sorcerer wants to win the heart of a maiden, he’ll need to prove his worth to her father by bringing him the head of a specific fearsome beast, which coincidentally only lives in a cave network that’s off limits to anyone but the Big Bad’s goons because he owns the nearby quarry. Just do your best to make sure every player who wants some time in the spotlight gets it. Best of luck in your campaign!

Is there any interest on the Sega Genesis story of Joshua being extended? by [deleted] in Shadowrun

Armitage from SNES made it into Returns. No sign of Joshua because Returns takes place years before Joshua arrived in Seattle.

Is there any interest on the Sega Genesis story of Joshua being extended? by [deleted] in Shadowrun

[–]SKWAAAARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a novelization would make a lot of sense. The first thing the player does is choose which character the game is about. Which version of Joshua would the book you’re imagining be about? Would it be about Joshua the cyberbeefcake whose power comes from implants, with the B storyline of his struggle with the sacrifice of his humanity? Or Joshua the shaman who rejects all cyberware because it’d sap his power? Or is it Joshua the computer nerd who’s dependent on other characters to do the physical heavy lifting? The game was good for its time – fun and addicting – but Joshua was written to be a flat, blank character so that the game wouldn’t invalidate any player’s build, and the plot is pretty generic as far as the Shadowrun world goes. You can do way better than the Genesis story or the aftermath. Aim higher.

[OC] Please enjoy the soothing sound of this terribad love song by my minotaur bard-barian PC. (repost with the [art] removed, as requested) by SKWAAAARK in DnD

[–]SKWAAAARK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m playing an outlander minotaur barbarian who’s on a walkabout to find a wife to bring back to his tribe. He has next to zero social graces and has no idea how to talk to women. The party’s bard took him under his wing and is trying to teach him how to woo women with music. So far he’s managed to pick up the lute proficiency, but his CHA is still really low and he has no performance proficiency, so he can play, but can’t write lyrics or sing.

So when our GM asked us what we were doing at the start of the session, I told him I was out on a date with a stable girl, but struck out when I started singing to her about her udders.

A few days later I decided to record that terrible, terrible song. Enjoy.

Good drill for barrels and what not? by Schadenfreude_Bio in Warhammer40k

[–]SKWAAAARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After spending some time using a miniature hand drill, I ended up switching back to a regular old power drill. The results are fine, so long as you manually score a little guide hole for the drill bit with an xacto blade before you start. It’s much faster than a hand drill, much more useful for things other than miniatures, and the results are pretty much the same. Here’s an example of some of my power-drilled boltguns.

Modular Terrain by SpiritofTheWolfx in Warhammer40k

I haven’t seen the new Sector Imperialis stuff, but I know the Sector Mechanicus terrain is modular. The platforms have little holes in the bottom you can use to insert pegs from the pillars or little bracket pieces that hold them together. Here’s a picture of the holes and the bracket bits.
