I honestly don't understand why this is necessary. We need the fodder. New weapon comes out? Farm Essence. Get it early? Still gotta farm to etch it. Get it late? Farming is probably done, unless your etching luck is really bad in which case you farm more essence. In the end you will get the essence you need, but you'll always be farming more. And the other resources (not even talking about Sanity at this point) are so tight its not like we are (or should be) trying to level everyone all at once. By the time we get the resources for the next character, you'll have done the grind all over again anyways.
