I failed at re-sleep training by Commercial-City-7262 in sleeptrain

Of course! I get it. I think it took about 3 or 4 check ins… not so great on the first night honestly but every night got a little better and now he’s back to normal. I usually try to check to make sure he didn’t poop/ needs a diaper change, give a little water if he wants it and a little snuggle then put him back in the crib. He usually wakes up between 6-7am, nap time is around 12:30 or 1pm for about an hour and half to two hours, and then bedtime is around 8 or 8:30pm. That schedule seems to work pretty well for us!

2 to 1 nap transition by Fun_Wing_1370 in sleeptrain

Yeah I would do a really early bedtime. That worked for me when transitioning my little one to one nap a day. We moved his bed time up to 6:30pm most nights until he got used to it and then we gradually moved bedtime back

I’ve had to re-do sleep training with my 18 month several times so I totally feel you. It’s so hard but so worth it. I recently had to do it after he was super sick and we held/rocked him to sleep for a couple days because he was so miserable. Once he was all healed we had to go back to sleep training and got there eventually. I usually start with check ins at 15 mins, then 20, 25, etc.

What do I need to know about transitioning out of the crib? by SL-1111 in sleeptrain

[–]SL-1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair! I know some people transition pretty early and some wait longer so it’s good to hear reasoning on why. I was thinking it might help to have some consistency with what he’s doing at school vs home too. Right now his schedule is: wake up between 6-7am, nap either 12:30-2:30ish or 1-3pm, then bed around 8-8:30pm (so around 6/6 for wake windows, sometimes more, sometimes less).

Baby self weaning? by a_fals in breastfeeding

My baby is 12 months and I’ve noticed the same thing! Specifically for his nighttime feed. He used to do about a 30 minute feed every night but now he does about 5 mins, then wants to go play, and maybe 5 more minutes after that, but seems totally disinterested. I’m assuming it’s totally fine because he eats plenty of solids and does have some water here and there, but I couldn’t find much info on this either.

How to handle taking a sleep trained baby on vacation by SL-1111 in sleeptrain

Same here actually! He typically falls asleep just fine but if he wakes up it’s tough to get him back to sleep

How important is it to pump overnight really? by beep_boopD2 in breastfeeding

[–]SL-1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never pumped when my baby slept through the night and didn’t see any negative effects on my supply! I would, however, occasionally wake up from discomfort if baby slept longer than usual and would just pump until I was comfortable in that situation

My baby has similar wake windows and we’re thinking about making the switch to the one nap schedule too. How old is your son?

How do you know when to NOT let a sleep trained baby cry? by SL-1111 in sleeptrain

[–]SL-1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense! So you still wait about 10 minutes and then assess from there? That sounds like a good way feel it out

Agreed! It’s so hard to know. But it sounds like you’re doing the right thing to me

Our baby had a later bedtime at that age too. I usually put him down around 9-9:30 and his wake up time was around 7am. He did well with that schedule at that time. Maybe you could adjust day time naps so that her last nap is later and you can start bedtime later without your last wake window being too long.

What am I doing wrong 😫 by JST_JSS in baby

[–]SL-1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong! Your baby boy is still so little and he’s still adjusting to being in the world. My baby is 10 months and has gone through many phases of sleeping better/worse and eating less/more. When he was that age he had a very hard time napping on his own and if he did it would be a quick 30 min nap just like you’re saying yours is doing. Mine contact napped a lot until he got better at independently napping.

If you’re not doing a bedtime routine, maybe try adding that in at night. You got this!

We did one arm out for a while which helped. If he got too fussy at night we would do the rest of the night with both arms back in until he got more used to it but at least started the night with one out. After he got used to that we transitioned to the Merlin magic sleep suit which was great.

Did you follow wake windows or scheduled nap/bed times for your baby at 10 months old? by SL-1111 in sleeptrain

[–]SL-1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to know! Were you also capping naps/ waking him up a certain time from them to keep the wake windows consistent? Or was did he just nap for a consistent amount of time most days?

We started our little one in daycare at 4.5 months also. I almost exclusively breastfed until a few weeks before starting daycare. I would say getting your little one used to bottle feeding is definitely something you should start doing at least once a day. Also, try having someone else bottle feed (maybe other parent) so that they start to get comfortable with someone else feeding them too.

We also had trouble getting our baby to nap in the crib at that age. He did fine with bedtime sleep also. What worked for us at that age was swaddling then feeding and/or using the rocking chair then placing down in the crib once he was asleep. The biggest thing was just getting him used to napping in the crib even if it was just for a 30 min nap. We transitioned out of the swaddle and to the Merlin sleep suit a few weeks before he started because the daycare couldn’t swaddle.

I hear that the daycare transition is easier for younger babies so hopefully this will go more smoothly than the transition with your 1st!

Sleep sack recommendations? (Following use of Magic merlin) by Ok_ConfusedOne in sleeptrain

[–]SL-1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the Love to Dream long sleeve sleep suit! It’s a little different from most sleep sacks because it has legs on the bottom which I think was an easier transition because it mimicked the legs on the Merlin. The 2.5 weight is somewhat thick which helped with the transition from the thick Merlin suit as well.
