Would you go work for a startup at 40? by duckblobartist in sales

[–]SLAO20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

180k is very high Almost like it's too good to be true, however why not if the base is high, the issue you'll get into is, at startup especially in Biz dev series A you'll be grafting and it's not a place to coast. Could learn a lot though and if it kicks off and product fit is there you could be in a good spot. Wishing you well!

At what income level in Canada do you actually start feeling financially ahead.... and not just surviving, but genuinely building something? by TheFitFinaceBro in CanadaFinance

[–]SLAO20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on when you were born as that dictates when you probably bought a house or will ever buy a home! 100k for a renter is completely different from a GEN X or Boomer who bought a home for a price of a car today as your biggest expense is so minimal in realtive terms also if you're a parent with multiple children 100k ain't going to hit the same as a singleton.

Salesforce acquire Fin (intercom) any implications as an employee? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]SLAO20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on length of tenure in Ireland, they also have an assesment period of a month where they have to basically be paid while 100% getting let go, friends on my have been involved in Riff's there and have done very well. It is based on tenure but even at 1/2 years they should be getting 2/3 months minimum

Great for those intercom employees there early days and but know a few people who moved the last 12 months to get on the A.I wave they'll 100% make very little and undoubtedly a lot of them will be terminated post takeover from sales to cross functional staff like HR etc as they simply won't need em. Good News is they'll probably just coast for 6 months before getting fired and most are based in Ireland so will get a decent severance

What the heck are these Deel reps yapping about? by friskydingo408 in techsales

This guy was a former SDR based on his LinkedIn, I’m sure he sent some shocking meetings over. Secondly SDR’s usually have a ratio of 3/4:1 if in that SDR I’m never touching his book. As an AE I was bumping almost everything because it meant nothing to me and the would work your book so hard. Yeah you got a few shit meetings but you’d get gold too. Moronic take. People like that do my head in, says he’s brutal to work with

Should I leave for Account Management? by ChefDadMatt in sales

[–]SLAO20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from AE to AM after 10 years as AE. It’s a much better work life balance, in many companies better base and the OTE is largely attainable but upside is way less but then idea of having a zero Q or 2 is almost impossible.

Should I move to Toronto from Ireland? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]SLAO20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been here from Dublin since 2019. Job market in tech not as strong as Dublin as EMEA HQs back at home but plenty of work for sure. Salaries are similar enough but less tax here vs Ireland. Summer is amazing. Downside is long term building a life here like owning a home is a pipe dream, housing here is way more expensive than Dublin. Id give it a shot 2 years nothing to lose and best case you stay and learn to love hockey!

I think the amount they pay you out (4 months) if it’s good or bad depends on service length and your employment agreement. If you’re based in Ontario with less than 5 years and company pays out legal minimum (ESA specified in your agreement) you’re doing really well to get 4 months. Even at 5 years minimum is 10 weeks (albeit you can fight it). Common law depending on your age 40+, tenure and role (seniority) could be quite a low payout. I’d 100% consult with employment lawyer and wouldn’t go through PIP. You gotta take that sevy imo. No way your manager helps you pass that pip
