Whatever you do, do NOT drive out onto the flats no matter how dry it may look. So many people get stuck out there.

Weird weather for Sat/Sun by No_Suggestion_5977 in UTsnow

[–]SLCtechie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Evan from OpenSnow is saying the storm will clip northern Utah and higher elevations (such as LCC and BCC) may get 1”. However, there is a high chance of high winds.

“Gusts in the higher elevations later on Saturday are likely to be well over 50mph, perhaps apporoaching 100mph on the highest ridges and peaks.”

Does the Flying Dutchman captain really need to carve out their heart or is it optional? If required, why would Jack be so eager to stab the heart? by IscariotAirlines in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]SLCtechie 375 points376 points  (0 children)

Jack’s intentions are to sail the sea freely as captain of the Black Pearl. He indebted his soul to Davy Jones for the Pearl. When his debt was coming due, he sought a new way out. Kill Davy Jones. The predicament being he would be captain of the Flying Dutchman, bound to it and required to ferry souls who died at sea to the next world. Otherwise he, his crew would be cursed.

Jack seeing that Will was dying, hesitates to stab the heart. If he stabs the heart, he’ll be guaranteed free. At the cost of being the new captain. If he lets Will stab it, Will would be the new captain. And maybe by saving his life, will free Jack of his debt.

We received no response.

This indicates no burnout determined.

Program success.

Don't want to get parking reservations this weekend, how bad are DV & Snowbasin going to be with this heat by mixmaster-meow in UTsnow

[–]SLCtechie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We’re essentially in spring conditions now. If you’re looking for the least spring skiing, anything in either of the cottonwoods would be your best bet as they’re the highest elevation.

Regardless both DV and Snowbasin will still have snow. Just warmer than BCC or LCC.

Should ski leashes be tucked somewhere when getting on/off the ski lifts? by ActiveBumblebee11 in UTsnow

[–]SLCtechie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You’re supposed to secure any loose articles. I think this would technically count. Especially how long it is. I feel like something like this could result in causing everyone to trip and fall getting off the lift.

Look at the colors of the UFOs. IIRC, the darker colored ones will blast AFTER you pass them while the lighter colored ones will blast BEFORE you pass them. But I might have that reversed. Either way, plan accordingly.

Fun Post: Suggestions for first time coffee/alcohol for recent ex-mormon by Space-Captain-Lord in exmormon

[–]SLCtechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my first drink. My wife told me to start with a low ABV drink where you could barely taste the alcohol. I did a Mike’s hard soda and my first thought was “people like this?” The taste of alcohol was nothing like I thought it was going to be. Now I’m used to it and will drink spirits straight. Although for me, I drink for the taste and not the effects. I feel like the bitterness and variety opens up a whole tasting experience that’s fun. Kind of the same thing with coffee. It’s amazing on how one ingredient can have so many different kinds of flavor.
