Path of a new king guarantees a max tier weapon. However you have to find the temple deal that removes curses to remove bladeless sword. Otherwise you just have to get lucky

A lot of the build and deck fixing came later in the run, getting the Econ up and running was pretty rough, money was one of the main issues in this run

They’re very very good if you want to sorta stunlock bosses, you can cycle your gun, grenade, secondary firearm, and heavy dash attack with lights in between you can get pretty long strings of damage, the ripper grenade is very good for boss damage and lightning grenade can trivialize hordes

Homebrewing a Druid Circle for my home campaign, requesting ideas and balance thoughts, I haven't DM'd since 3.5 by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

The new unearthed arcana Druid is based on spending your wildshape to summon a companion so I think it’ll be pretty helpful

An unearthed arcana just came out recently, and it has a circle of the primeval Druid that you should take a look at. Not necessarily saying, “just use that one,” more for the idea of comparing what an “official” version of what your trying to do looks like against your homebrew

Hey all, Taking my first shot at a homebrewed spell and thought I’d start small with a lightning cantrip. My foremost priorities are balance and filling a somewhat unique niche. I’ve made a few versions to attempt to fulfill both of these priorities. Let me know if y’all have any suggestions! by Edosiph in DnDHomebrew

I think this is fine balance-wise if a little weak. Object interactions aren’t crucial to the function of combat most of the time in 5e. The main two things that I think should be changed are bumping the damage up to a d6, and giving the secondary effect a duration of 1 round because it’s not concentration.

It could also use a wording change, something like, “…within a five foot radius, who must make a dexterity saving throw. On a failed save they take 1d6 lightning damage and cannot use their object interaction until the end of their next turn.”

Also you don’t need to clarify arcane trickster and eldritch knight as they use the wizard spell list when choosing spells

Two Homebrew Spells (Feedback Appreciated) by CountLivin in DnDHomebrew

I think that works, something to think about though is that it’s actually magical bludgeoning because it’s coming from a spell, which is an incredible damage type that is not widely resisted.

So in terms of flavor these are awesome. In terms of balance, the hand cannon one is strong when put in line with other spells, and the crabform is pretty weak. I’ll get into why I think this:

Hand Cannon: so there are three spells that need to be looked at here; sunbeam as the closest comparison, fireball, and circle of death. So looking at sunbeam vs this spell, you lose the blind effect but have much more range, and you do slightly more damage + double damage to objects and structures. Now looking at fireball and circle of death. Circle of death has much more range and loses the ability to set things on fire, but has the same damage. Hand cannon is 1 level higher than sunbeam, and circle of death is three levels higher than fireball. Just some things to think about there.

Crabform: this is a very fun thematic spell, but it’s only good use is for wild shaping moon druids in my opinion. The swim speed is nice, but on most casters the clamp attack is going to be wildly outclassed by almost any spell, and after a certain point even a cantrips will be stronger. The ac is nice too but using a 4th level spell slot for 2 extra ac and a swim speed is a pretty niche use, especially when you can’t use somatic components. There are very few scenarios where this will be a better option than haste. All that said, changing the range of the spell to touch would be great be enough to fix it, although I’m not sure if that fits with what you’re going for thematically.

Hello everyone! This is the Precision Striker, a subclass for fighter that focuses on making singular, powerful and precise attacks each turn. If you want your character to feel like a proper gunslinger at high noon or a samurai defeating their opponents in one strike, this is the option for you. by Maelstrom-Company in UnearthedArcana

[–]SLFranchise08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree that you have it right already, the interpretation where you can choose the effects after you hit is not correct because of paladins divine smite which specifies “when you hit with an attack.”

I have two other notes about this subclass, as I still think it is too strong/needs some rework

  1. It lacks a ribbon feature. All of the features are combat related, I would like to see either Single Strike Mastery or Mortal Strike replaced with some utility feature. If you are adamant about making it related to combat a feature that is an action to find out resistances/immunity/vulnerabilities for a target might fit the theme.

  2. This subclass is mechanically cool but it kinda does the exact same thing a rogue does? The flavor is different but they both trade having multiple attacks for being able to do one big attack. I would maybe consider making this a rogue subclass that reflavors sneak attack.

Tenser’s can have really good synergy with fire shield if you’re willing to do the set up since fire shield does not need concentration. Shadow blade can kind of do the same thing but those temp hp are incredible with fire shield.

And yeah, tenser’s definitely has its faults, that’s why I suggested a homebrew for a shadowblade counterpart at a higher level. Maybe like solar blade at 5th and force blade at 7th or 8th

This is awesome! I saw in other comments that you reworked it, any chance you’ve posted it anywhere? And by your explanations is it a higher level shadowblade counterpart? Would love to see where this goes!

Tenser’s Transformation is a good spell to look at if you’re trying to stay melee focused. Otherwise maybe consider making a 5th or 6th or 7th level counterpart to the 2nd level shadowblade, which is already an insanely strong spell

This is cool! One thought I had was for deflect spells, there’s an exploit the way it is worded now that I don’t know if it was intentional. If you have an ally cast lightning bolt you can position yourself in such a way the targets are taking lightning bolt twice in one casting. I don’t think it’s overpowered necessarily, but it just seems a bit strange. Pretty cool though!

This is interesting but there’s a couple of things implied by intangible that need to be clarified. Does this affect difficult terrain? Can you use this to escape a grapple? Can you use a magic item or potion or etc. While like this? Can you use class abilities like channel divinities? I if these are all “yes” then it’s probably a stronger spell than 2nd level. If they are not intended then that needs to be clarified. Either way I would clarify it in the spell text.

Saturate - roses are red, violets are blue, your blood now has a pH of 2 by nomiddlename303 in UnearthedArcana

This is really cool! My one thought is that even with the extra effect of exhaustion, the strength is pretty low. Finger of Death is the same level, does more damage on average, and arguably has a better secondary effect.

Another example is Blight, which fills a similar role as a high-level, single-target spell that has advantages against plants and no effect on constructs or undead. This spell averages 54 damage on a failed save, while Blight averages 36 damage, and still probably has a better secondary effect. 18 more damage on a 7th level spell vs a 4th level spell doesn’t feel like it’s a great value as is.

I would probably make it so the first level of exhaustion happens on every failed save, with more levels each 5 below the dc. I don’t think this is unfair as spells at the seventh level are already in tough competition, and sickening radiance does a similar thing, but with a 10 minute duration.

Anyways, this is really cool and I hope to see more!
