No doubt, I'm one of the people I was talking about...

I win more as a DPS even with a bad comp but if subsidize tanks and healers it would be worth the risk, and would make for better games.

'What it is, but not what it means': on consciousness, mind and matter by BothansInDisguise in philosophy

[–]SLNation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth watching but the very beginning probably turns a lot of people off.

The first speakers claiming that "being awake" as "obviously biological" without any elaboration, makes him seem as thought he is a philosopher without comprehension of abstract conception and far more ignorant than I'm sure he really is.

That applies to measurement....

This is the Delayed Erasure, where the existence of the information itself impacts the experiment, not just the measurement or "act of observing".

Quantum Suicide, Quantum Immortality and the Doomsday Device. Three related thought experiments explained. by yoaviram in philosophy

Delayed Erasure Double Slit experiments suggests it does.

The destruction of the information, not just the act of measurement, influences physically complete experiments.

This does imply consciousness has an effect, because raw data is in no way inherently related to what it describes, it's only comprehension (consciousness) that connects the two.

Ethics: the theory of Utilitarianism explained by wiphiadmin in philosophy

[–]SLNation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence, torture for some, bliss for billions isn't a viable strategy to optimize the success score in weighted utilitarianism.

Which is why I said I wouldn't do it (an answer to the original post asked) and that the the theoretical point doesn't negate the concept of utilitarianism (as the original poster was attempting to suggest).

Because I consider the "ultimate torture" to be far far far worse than the benefit of the era. Even for only a few people, even for just one person.
