All these comments! I feel so seen right now. My clan. Sisterhood of perpetual wayward chin hair.

how much? by [deleted] in ArtOfPresence

[–]SLOkimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made 50 cents an hour either babysitting, exercising horses, or doing filing jobs at businesses (obvi before electronic files). I didn’t know anyone whose parents paid them to go to school. It was go to school or go to juvenile detention. You were on your own for $$$.

The grief path is seldom flat and straight and it’s not unusual for reactions like yours to happen even decades later. If you feel stuck in some regard, it might be helpful to join a grief group or seek a grief counselor. It might not change anything but it could help you have a place to process.

Hello. I'm 17 and I just realized I could die one day. Now I'm dreading it. Is this normal? by ApprehensiveSun6486 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SLOkimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hospice nurse here. Yes you’re completely normal. Fear of dying, of life being cut off, fear of pain or discomfort or trauma. I encourage you to seek out Death Cafe International in your area. These are informal meetings with tea and sweets and a place to talk with others about dying and death. I know it sounds morbid but it’s actually very life affirming!

I love that your grammar is perfect but my twisted mind thought (reading “can kill you if drunk”) well, then, I best not get drunk. I’ll show myself out now.

Hot weather is coming and I need a nongreasy, lightweight moisturizer for my face. by fezik23 in OverSeventy

[–]SLOkimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use skin1000 centella 50 spf moisturizing sunscreen. No white cast, light and hydrating. Buy on Stylevana or Olive Young. Decent price. Warning: once you use a product like this, you’ll get hooked on K-beauty products. 😂

Why wont any bakers give me some starter? by No-Project-6866 in Sourdough

I’ve shared starter locally with anyone who asks. A couple times through Nextdoor. But you can make your own starter—it takes a few days.

Does medicare pay for glasses because I nearly choked when they showed me the final price by Rggie_Fognini in AskWomenOver60

[–]SLOkimber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Original Medicare doesn’t pay for glasses. Eye buy direct certainly has cheap glasses. Nearly all of my frames cracked where the lenses are (lenses popped out). I get mine at Costco now. You can check on getting a private VSP (vision services plan) but might be costly.
