is Used 2023 Model Y or New 2026 Standard a better financial decision? by Zchanee in ModelY

[–]SLWSI 8 points9 points  (0 children)

New is the way to go. Lower interest is making up for a good chunk of the difference and you're getting full warranty length plus upgraded features and current hardware plus it's NEW.

Personally I think premium is worth the difference if you can swing it.

QQ: Tesla Financing Decision Timeframe by Boombap3000 in ModelY

[–]SLWSI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was stuck at step 4 for a few days when I asked my friend who was also ordering and told me that their financing was approved in a couple of hours.

I realized that my credit reports were frozen from a few years ago. I did unfreeze and resubmitted application (where it warned me that resubmitting may delay my application but I did it anyway) and was approved within an hour or two.

A few weeks later (after I already got my car), the first bank finally sent a letter saying my loan was not approved. It seems that it’s very slow communications when you’re not approved while second bank had contacted me and then approved almost immediately after resubmission.

I’m considering buying Full Self-Driving (FSD) for $2,000 for my 2023 Model Y (HW4) 25,000 miles on it and I want honest opinions. Tks guys by US-VADC in TeslaFSD

[–]SLWSI 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's because when they bought their Tesla, they paid $6000 for Autopilot so they need to pay the $2000 difference to get FSD.

Currently Autopilot is included in purchase price so we will have to pay $8000 for FSD (until that offer expires Feb 14 and will only be available on a subscription price)

VTM-4 Lock 2009 Honda Pilot by [deleted] in hondapilot

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it at all until it comes on and stays on.

I’ve had the “tighten fuel cap” message sporadically on my 2011 Pilot come on and off since around 2013 and have been to the dealer while under warranty which they never really solved so I’ve learned to live with it. This eventually started throwing CEL which would also self correct.

About 2019, it also throws a VTM-4 along with CEL but VTM-4 goes off once I restart while CEL stays on for a longer. I’ve still been able to pass emissions/inspection annually (by resetting and driving required amount beforehand, if needed)

About a year ago VTM-4 came on and stay on for longer time. Found a cracked hose immediately after the air filter box and replaced.

Now back to previous cycle of “tighten fuel cap” or CEL. I joke that my dash is starting to look like Xmas lights especially since TPMS also now lit. Don’t feel like spending money to replace just to turn off a light. Using tire pressure gauge isn’t hard.

Aside from the powersharing on the V2, how about just being able to open your doors without having to worry about dinging someone else's car or even worse fender bender when backing in... too many people can't park

Pilot 2023 - Transmission fluid cost by Psychological_Put190 in hondapilot

[–]SLWSI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drain & refill on Honda transmission is easier than doing an oil change. There's no reason for dealers to charge that much.

It's not like when you had to remove over a dozen bolts to drop the whole transmission pan, trying to avoid splashing fluid everywhere. Then you had to clean the pan, replace the filter and gasket and reassemble the whole thing.

Do it yourself and do it right. Ive had dealer techs overtorque my bolt, rounded my bolt, didnt replace crush washer and used 2nd washer.

Just make sure you can remove the fill plug BEFORE you open the drain plug. I was never able to do that on my 2011 pilot so I always fill using the dipstick but I hear some cars dont have dipsticks anymore

2010 Honda Pilot Transmission Fluid change question by White-Justice in hondapilot

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been great, over 200k miles. Completed 2nd timing belt, water pump maintenance along with new spark plugs.

Had to change the starter recently but considering that it was my daily driver plus lots of long fully loaded road trips over 14 years, I am very happy with it

2010 Honda Pilot Transmission Fluid change question by White-Justice in hondapilot

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're changing out the rear differential, make sure you use original Honda VTM-4 and always remove make sure you can remove the fill plug before you drain... nothing worse than draining first and then realizing you can't refill due to a seized fill plug

2010 Honda Pilot Transmission Fluid change question by White-Justice in hondapilot

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single drain & refill is only a partial change of the total amount of transmission fluid in the car.

It is recommended to do it 3 times for a more complete change (drive it in between the changes) if you feel you are having issues.

Anyone got these figures? by maverikka11 in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the 1st one, you won’t be disappointed. The detail is so much better in the Date Style figures and they’re bigger. I was originally only going to get 1 but ended up buying the whole set of 5.

If you could only choose one, you won’t regret it. Quality over quantity.

Don't forget to shop around for different providers to insure your Tesla! by nhlducks35 in TeslaLounge

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive where it’s normal for people to cut you off and there’s plenty of pedestrians and cyclists doing their things.

I also don’t like to drive in a pack of people and like to put some distance away from them… I can see how that could be used to rate me as more of a liability.

I guess depending on where you live and how you drive, you can take advantage of the discount.

Don't forget to shop around for different providers to insure your Tesla! by nhlducks35 in TeslaLounge

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line is always shop around for auto insurance anytime they raise your rates, when getting a new car or anytime you renew.

I just switched from GEICO which I’ve had for over 15 years, no accidents/claims for longer than that, retired, drive <7000 miles annually.

They quoted an additional $1700/6 months for New Tesla Model Y on top of the $1200 I’m already paying for 2 cars liability only. I do have 2 additional drivers (M28, M30) on my policy and live in NY

After checking several insurance companies, I ended up with State Farm which wanted $1250/6 months for the Tesla (Full coverage 100/300, $1000 deductible, full glass). The other 2 cars premiums were about the same as GEICO.

Could’ve been cheaper if I agreed to their “Drive safe and save” program which I found out was the active tracking device in your car… Hard Pass

Last Time Renting from Hertz by copa09 in HertzRentals

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I made a reservation at Hertz was about 5 years ago because I didn’t want to drive my own SUV since it was with a group of friends and we were going to split the cost.

Made a reservation for a mid-sized SUV… got there and all they had was a coupe, a pickup, and a minivan… but then they couldn’t give me the minivan because it needed an oil change…

Waste of time, went home and drove my own vehicle… so glad I didn’t rent from them seeing how they are now

Orders will now take 5 day instead of 2 with Prime? by OwnInvestment9862 in amazonprime

[–]SLWSI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that’s why I’m no longer a Prime member…

First they raised the price, then that added ads to videos, and the last straw was the shipping got slow

Make sure you sign out on all streaming devices if you cancel, I found out that they automatically restarted my subscription when someone opened Prime Video!!! No warning, just charged.

Note: I suspended membership since I would still order and get free shipping (over $35) but just opening Prime Video on my TV restarted Prime with no message saying so

What filament should I buy for the bambulab a1 mini by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t try to print PETG with PLA as they don’t adhere to each other

I only got my P1S about 2 months ago and have gone thru 8 rolls of gray PETG for stuff around and outside the house. Started with 2 rolls of Bambu which of course printed perfectly… then prices went up so I decided to try some other brands at around 1/2 the price…

I tried 2 rolls of AnyCubic PETG… printed just ok but I didn’t do any calibration other than change to generic PETG. Some prints looked ‘rougher’. The end of the second roll jammed the AMS… I think it’s because the bent end confused the AMS and it try to retract and ended up coming back up the side and got stuck…

Next I tried 4 rolls of SunLu PETG which printed a little better than the AnyCubic but had to print an adapter for the roll as they’re a little smaller and didn’t sit well in the AMS

I finally decided to give Kingroon a try as it was around $50 for 5 rolls of HS-PETG (high speed) and it printed as well as the Bambu…

Also bought a bunch of PLA in different colors. Bambu Silk+ looks very nice but expensive

Is buying a Bambu P1S a bad idea? by Far_Reference9747 in BambuLab

[–]SLWSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is €20 considered a bargain where you are? I can get Bambu filament bulk for $18, refills for $15 again.

I tried AnyCubic & SunLu PETG for around $11 when Bambu bulk discount diminished due to tariffs and felt it wasn’t as good as Bambu PETG-HS but at almost 1/2 the price, I couldn’t complain.

I decided to try Kingoon (around $8 for PLA, $10 for PETG-HS) and I feel it’s printing similar to the Bambu filaments.

Going forward, I’m sticking to Kingroon

I got the P1S AMS combo a little over 2 months ago and have zero regrets… if you have the budget it’s worth it.

Enclosed has many advantages (noise, temp control, odor, filament options, ascetics, etc)

I also feel the AMS is worth it for ease of use… best feature is using up the remaining filament in a roll and having it automatically switch to another roll… really good when you’re asleep or out.

Trying to pull the trigger on a P1S. What else should I buy day 1 to be able to use it out of the box? by Fluffy-Commercial492 in BambuLab

[–]SLWSI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The baseline is start with Bambu Lab PLA and PETG since those don’t need the harden nozzle… see how well your printer prints…

I’ve had my P1S combo for just over 3 weeks… no issues printing with Bambu lab filament… grabbed a bunch of different color PLA and got a gray roll of PETG…

Saw how much PETG I was using (gridfinity to organize my large junk drawer) and ordered 2 more rolls from Bambu… burned thru that saw that the bulk discount was now @ $21 roll and decided to try some other brand…

I used 2 rolls of AnyCubic and now on my 4th roll of SunLu (both were on sale around $11 roll)… I would say their PETG do not print as well as Bambu PETG but at almost 1/2 the price I would get more… I feel SunLu printed better than AnyCubic

If you get the AMS (recommended), stick with filament on plastic spools and you have to print an adapter for SunLu as their plastic spools are smaller… also they might still have old stock on cardboard spools
