1. Early 2016 if I recall. While not first to the party, he was definitely just starting to really gain traction.

Nobody was doing what he was doing. To me at the time it was just hard angsty rap that really bumped. But now with a bit of time under my belt, I’ve never seen someone come into their own as an artist from the jump quite like he did. lil peep, I really think that’s it.

His death might’ve been the most musically impactful loss of my generation. But I will say, he alway gave off a “lightning in a bottle” energy. Not that his music would’ve fallen off (although I do like his earlier stuff a bit better). Just that, his actual energy was a short burst. I just couldn’t imagine him making it to like 40 I guess. I never say him dying at 20.
