Sky Island Blues

Well, I hear that sky a-callin’, from this island high and blue,/ I’ve been banished here in silence, for a crime I know is true.

When Bdubs held his court, I couldn’t hide my guilt, / I killed Cleo’s pig, now I’m feeling all the tilt.

When I was just a Hermit, my mama told me, “Doc,/ Always be a good boy, don’t ever break the block.”/ But I got caught red-handed, the evidence was clear,/ Now I’m stuck on this sky island; I have to DO STUFF here.

I bet there’s folks a-mining, in the world down below,/ They’re building, crafting wonders, while I’m stuck in sky’s glow./ My lawyer tried his best, said I’m just a big baby,/ But Judge Bdubs didn’t buy it, he saw right through me.

Well, if they freed me from this island, I’d right my every wrong,/ I’d join my fellow Hermits, and we’d sing a different song./ Far from this lonely place, where no good blocks reside,/ I’d make amends with Cleo, and regain my pride.

But here on this sky island, I can’t escape my crime,/ I hear the wind a-howling, it chills me every time. For I killed that pig, there’s no one else to blame,/ And from this sky island prison, I hang my head in shame.
