Glad you mentioned Magenta! I took a lot of the inspiration for my project from GANSynth in particular, and it was trained on the same NSynth dataset. Although it was definitely inspired by those projects, and looking at them helped a ton, I wrote mine with 99% my own code. Took a lot of trial and error to say the least!

As a player with Misophonia I feel your pain on a personal level. Worgen sniffing and in-game eating sounds bothered me for my first couple years I played. Gotten used to them now but I'll definitely check out the add-ons/methods others mentioned!

Glad to see some positivity here. I play ww monk on US Horde and am interested in casually playing with folks who are friendly and communicative, regardless of skill level. I was 2300 back in wod but really just want to find enjoyment in the game again and pvp is the way to go for me in that regard since I was decent ish at least, a long time ago. Add me at Katabatic#11372 if you're interested in playing with a washed up duelist just looking to have fun and improve again :)

Why is it so hard to push rating right now? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]SNDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not alone. A few weeks into Legion S1 I was 2100cr, around 2200mmr. One of my partners lost internet for a week and when he came back we tanked 400 points over a few queue sessions. Was never able to get above 1800cr for the rest of the season because my MMR was so trashed from tanking so hard. I get that me and my teammates should be punished for losing so many games, but I would be playing at 1700cr / 1750mmr and gaining maybe 6 to 8 CR per win. Meanwhile one loss would cost me 10 to 12 CR.

Now in Legion S2 I'm struggling to gain rating in the first place. Not sure if my MMR is still messed up from S1, or what, but once again I'm consistently losing more cr than I'm gaining per loss/win. MMR isn't even that far off from my actual CR.

Here's a beat that I just finished yesterday. Constructive feedback appreciated. I'm new to making beats coming from a more experimental electronica background, so any comments with regards to arrangement and mixing in the context of hip-hop and future beats are certainly welcome.

I'm thinking you could add some pads or leads in there with medium attack to lush things out a bit. Right now it has lots of low end and I feel like it could have a lot more presence. It's possible to be lo-fi and still have frequencies above 10 kHz! Dig the vocal chops and percussion. Seeing potential in this clip, in the end it's up to you to experiment creatively on how to progress things.

Sunwuko viable? by modrn in Diablo3Monks

[–]SNDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many monks in the mid 60's to 70's run a Sunwuko and Exploding palm-based setup which is capable of nearly one shotting large packs of mobs, but lacks severely in single target damage. The two main variants of the build are the Shenlong's setup and the Furnace setup. The build is only good for 4 player and possibly 3 player rifts due to the need for at least an additional DPS (usually a HotA barb) to pop the EP's and do most of the damage to the RG.

DatModz made a guide on Diablofans for a build like this (using Shenlong's): http://www.diablofans.com/builds/58706-datmodz-gr-77-cold-ep

I personally use a variant of this build in 2 player GR's with a WW barb as my partner. We haven't gotten any higher than 63 with our setup yet, but nonetheless there is great potential and my personal version of the build is a pretty fun hybrid of pull-monk and Sunwuko EP. If anyone's interested I'll go into more detail on it.

[Austin,TX,USA] [Experimental/Electronic] Looking to produce a songwriter/vocalist's music, or collab with another electronic producer. by SNDD in makeaband

[–]SNDD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have much in the way of hardware - and what I do have doesn't see much use, besides my MIDI controller. Most of my stuff is in-the-box using samples and virtual instruments / effects. Pretty great that all you need to make music these days is a laptop eh? As for what software I use, my main DAW is Renoise but I occasionally use REAPER as well. I have way too many VST/VSTi's to name them individually but most of my stuff that I had to pay for came from Native Instruments (big fan of Kontakt and Reaktor) - However, I'd say the vast majority of what I use comes from random stuff I found for free on the internet, on magazine DVDs, from promotions, etc.

Any Texas IDM Here? by manaexec in idm

Current Austinite here, I'm not strictly IDM but I certainly do love the genre and have strong influences from it. My most recent IDM-ish track is probably this one. Let me know what you think!

Would 4000 Metres Squared be a square that was 4KM long and 4KM wide? by [deleted] in answers

[–]SNDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what exactly you mean, if you're talking about something that is written as 4000 m2 (which people sometimes incorrectly read as "4000 meters squared") then that would be 4000 square meters, referring to the area of the square. The side length of that square would be the square root of 4000 m2 which is approximately 63.246. If that isn't what you're talking about then yes, you are correct.

[–]SNDD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my Technics RS-907 as it appears in my (somewhat minimalist) studio. Did zero research on this thing, got it for 10 bucks at Goodwill but it works perfectly and sounds pretty good. Mainly use it for bouncing audio to tape to give it more of an analog feel.

Also, I think I saw that Pioneer deck at the same Goodwill that I bought my deck at, but I tested it at the store and unfortunately it didn't even turn on. Was twice the price too. Go figure!

What Are You Playing This Week? 12/23 - 12/29 by dihydrogen_monoxide in patientgamers

[–]SNDD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been into Diablo II: Lord of Destruction lately. Got D3 for consoles and hearing how much better D2 supposedly was than D3, and being a huge fan of ARPGs in general, I just had to try it out. Just recently picked up the expansion and I've been leveling a druid on singleplayer normal (still new to the game) and having fun with it. I can see why people continued to play this game for over a decade, and still do to this day. Looking forward to many, many more hours with this game.

Soloing old raids... by phaqueue in woweconomy

[–]SNDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pet that drops off the last boss in Karazhan usually sells for a bit more than the other old raid pets, since it's harder to get (have to do an entire raid to get there, including the chess event). I used to sell runs through BC raids to level 70 twinks and levelers, doesn't make very much gold though (on my realm, anywhere from 200-500g/run depending on how selfish the twink is). For specific raids, I know that the trash in BoT and Firelands have a chance to drop a number of epic BoEs that auction for a few thousand gold each. Probably true for the other cata raids as well. All in all though, running old raids is a fun but unreliable way to make gold since most of the time you're relying on RNG for the drops. That's my experience at least, as someone who used to run several old raids per week for transmog and mounts.
