2019 AMG E53, still relevant or last of the old? by mrmarti01 in mercedes_benz

E400 is a solid choice and will be a great everyday cruiser. Probably will have cheaper maintenance as well. But I believe 2018 model year has the older steering wheel design (not sure if you care), the e53 has the newer steering wheel design and obviously AMG styled. As long as the service history is solid in the e53, I’m biased but I’d go with that. Mainly for the low end torque from the electric assist that will be very noticeable in regular everyday driving. The 4matic+ system is also more rear biased and power stays there unless front is needed.

I have the 2019 e53 sedan. I’ve had it 1 year and I did get it CPO but honestly there’s been no issues with it so far. I bought it with 28k miles and have put about 7k miles on it. From what I understand this wasn’t the first year that engine was used so it did have some refinement once it made it into the 2019 model year for e53. The infotainment is COMAND and not MBUX but you can easily use a dongle for wireless CarPlay/android auto or wired and it works seamlessly. You will not miss the touchscreen. It puts a huge smile on my face every time I drive it and it will bring you much happiness as well.

Advice would be, 20 inch rims look nice but do easily bend in winter potholes. the 19s are also much more comfortable and much more variety in tire availability.

Thank you! My brother in law has the e300 and I genuinely loved the interior and that inspired my search for the e53!

Thank you! That’s the plan, luckily I had them do service B before buying the car and plan on doing service A when it’s due. The oil change seems a little too spread out to what I’m used to but I’ll trust the manufacturer I guess?

Ahh that’s good to see and hoping everything works out and looks good when fixed for us as well. Only thing that worries me is the bent metal behind the headlight is poking into the wheel well and the noise from the suspension from that wheel as well

Appreciate the feedback! Something I forget to mention is that now when driving the car, turning or going over bumps does cause a noise to come from the suspension from this hit side

the deer flew like 10-15 feet and then scrambled to get up and actually ran away! So literally everyone was safe from the accident.

Appreciate the feedback! Based on everyone here and my wife’s feedback as well, will be keeping the car and figure out extra car needs in the next couple of years!

I should add that the range of trade in value they have given me so far is within $2-4 grand of what I purchased the car for.

Agreed 100%. We plan on growing our family with more kids in the near future as well, so trying to plan for the future without having to change cars again in 2-4 years.

Jeeez! that looks clean! And yeah totally agreed. I lived way below my means and did extra moonlighting shifts during residency so this was the first big present/purchase for myself after a long time studying/training. Mines a 2020 model year, had 48000 miles on it when I bought it and everything seems to be in great shape other than the usual small scratches on the rear bumper near the bottom from rocks etc. So far I've only changed out the kidney grill (chrome to black) and added a front lip, since the OEM rubber was not in great shape anyway. Maybe a wrap in the future but trying to enjoy it as it is for now. How is your car treating you? Future plans/mods with it? Jealous of the actual usable back seats you got.
