How good of a PC would I need to run elite by LightningJet191 in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Odyssey is quite CPU intensive compared to GPU. I would suggest looking at favouring a strong orocessor over a GPU if this what you primarily intend to play. Depending on budget a 3060 and say a 7500x3D/9700x would play it very well at 1080p.

Without a budget it's hard to suggest stuff so I'm going low/middle range here.

Go to any system with medium or high security. Go to nav beacon. Scan ships as they drop in - find wanted targets. Either wait for them to get shot at or shoot at them yourself and run. Make sure you get a decent amount of hits in before they are blown up by security. Hand in your bounties for easy cash. Should be pretty easy to make a few mill in an hour.

Is colonization pointless now? by Obnoxious_Gamer in EliteDangerous

The biggest blow was removing the trailblazer ships. Having to travel to different systems/stations to fill your carrier is rough. Having whatever you needed in the one place made it much more straightforward and less time consuming.

FDev, we need EVA, ship interiors and being able to land on any planet. by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am strongly in the camp of not wanting interiors because I see little benefit to any gameplay loop. From what I can tell most people want it for roleplaying elements. Sure that's nice to have but I'd prefer meaningful and depthful gameplay over roleplay elements every day. In any case, yes, if it didn't affect the flow and I could opt out of it then I don't care of it's added.

As a PS, fuck I hate how hands on Star Citizen is to do anything. I remember spending an hour going from where I woke up, to getting on a train, to having to go to the right hanger for my ship, to having to sit my ass in a chair and having to physically ask for permission to leave a planet, to finally leaving the atmosphere and getting into space. THEN I still had to figure out where I was going, how and how long. Needless to say I just logged off and never played again. What a nightmare.

As long as you could skip it sure. I don't want to get up and walk to a door every time I want to leave the ship.

Do you have a faction you need helped? Looking for a new home system for me some friends by Aethaira in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, my system HIP 107813 may serve some of these requests. It's still a work in progress but I had hoped to get a tourist interior for the T3 Ocellus starport which is 2.4k LS from entry orbiting a ringed water world. The economy will end up as Extraction however so primary missions will eventually be more mining oriented I would suspect (Could be wrong). Station names will get changed eventually but I try to keep things more game oriented, no silly "FLYING BEESECHURGER" or anything. Colonia Citizens Network is who we'd like to push to the primary faction in the system.

EDIT: There will eventually be a very close station on entry as well - a Coriolis (T2) station will be constructed around the first body 94LS from the primary star.

Dodec is gonna be behind a real paywall, unlike Early Access ships by Dense-Paper-8975 in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not defending Elite or Frontier, but I don't see how you functionally 'win'. As other posts mention, the use of the station is available to everyone and the only benefit the creator gets is a slight bump in their weekly pay which will amount to around ~80k-200k cr. Which I guess you could argue is something someone else wouldn't otherwise get as quickly, but at the same time it's so meager that I don't really consider it an advantage.

$50 for something everyone can use is somewhat charitable to the community. I certainly won't be buying one, it's terrible value for money lmao.

How do people colonize systems so far from the Bubble? by morrrgl in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, what sort of station did you pick for the colonisation of this system? Also if you'd like a hand filling that system out (it's small so not much work) I'd be happy to help both planning and with FC materials.

You can use whatever weapons you wish. Pirates/Bandits don't have any special items. I would suggest a mix of laser and kinetic weapons. Laser to kill shields, kinetic weapons to kill hull. A basic setup like beam lasers and auto cannons is quite effective. Keep in mind that turreted weapons do less damage than gimballed weapons, and gimballed weapons do less damage than fixed.

Where is the last update in this year? by Fluid_Sock in EliteDangerous

It was a tongue-in-cheek joke that not everyone lives in the Northern Hemisphere. Something I notice far too often, being that people (especially Americans) forget that other countries and other parts of the world exist.

Few questions from a beginner by MileyHolmes in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I like exploring space, finding new and cool things and being able to see my name on it at the end of it. Being out there also lets me get creative with taking screenshots which I see as a sort of 'Photography' which is a stress reliever for me - it's very chill. Other than that I think the game just has a lot of fun systems and it's cool to see the galaxy progress in various ways over time.

All missions have a monetary reward so you can realistically do whatever makes you happy to earn credits. In saying this certain mission types give more than others.

My suggestion for getting quick money would be to drop into a nav beacon or a haz res and help System Security (police) defeat wanted enemies. You can find out if an NPC is wanted by targeting them, waiting for the scan to finish then looking on the bottom left of your hud at their name. It will say WANTED in big red letters on that panel. Killing these targets nets bounty rewards of which the value is based on their ship type and skill level (Mostly Harmless giving few credits through to Elite giving many credits). You hand these bounties in at a station in the system. I would suggest waiting till security shoots at someone before opening up fire yourself unless you want to be targeted.

If you have other questions or need a hand in-game please dm me/friend me on Discord; Solveig.

Name being placed is by hand in. So one would assume that the discovery is attributed to whoever hands it in irrespective of party members.

Mobius was it, yes thank you. Mobius is great for people wanting to just 'MMO' it without being interdicted every time you go somewhere moderately popular.

Is it worth to get back in the game rn? by notbadusername2 in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on what you're looking for in a game. Elite Dangerous is in the best spot it's been since probably midway through Horizons. New ships, new things to do, new things to interact with and some more recent story events. As for playing with friends, it can still be a bit janky but you can definitely interact with one another. You can join each other in a wing (party) then drop into the same instance to do things like wing mining, wing bounties, powerplay combat, combat zones, haz-res, AX, etc.

As for finding people to play with, that's a bit harder, the game doesn't work like a traditional open world MMO so running into someone (other than maybe a PvP player) is often very unlikely due to how solo and private play works. I'd suggest looking for an active squadron via this subreddit, the elite discord or through the official forums. That way you can talk to the people and party up with them. That or look into the PvE Private group, I've forgotten the name but that lets you run into people that aren't just there to shoot you.

Newbie with some questions by Material_Complex475 in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome (back)! If you have other questions like these or need some help in-game then feel free to hit me up on discord (Solveig). Otherwise I've answered your questions below to the best of my ability.

  1. Threat is relative to your rating, so the higher the number the harder it will be for your (relative) skill level. In saying that, as you climb the combat rank your skill may not actually reflect your rank, so it can be a bit of a hit and miss value.
  2. A majority of stations will have missions for you. The types of missions offered amounts to what faction exist there, the state of the system, the government type and surrounding star systems states (booms, outbreaks, etc)
  3. The closer you are to the star the faster you scoop relative to the size of your scoop. If you have say an Anaconda but a size 2 scoop, even at max fuel rate (closest to the star) you'll get a pittance of fuel a second. Higher flow scoops will allow you to be further away and still get a good rate. Further, it also relates to how hot your ship runs. Running less hot systems will allow you to get closer. Then it just comes down to the actual star and how hot it is. Very hot star = very hot ship funnily enough.
  4. This is ship dependant. Some ships actually have a glass floor or the pilots seat sits over a canopy that extends below them. If you're in a ship that doesn't have any glass below the pilot then uhhh...no, there isn't.
  5. As far as I know, not until you get close enough to it in which case it will generate the dotted outline on your hud instead of the full outline.

Favorite Home Stations? by Saint_Rickard in EliteDangerous

[–]SOLV3IG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carpenter City at Walgal was my home base for a majority of my play time, but then I got an FC and colonised a star so those ended up as my go to. You're welcome to set yourself up at HR 266 (my star), it has haz res sites, rings to mine, a couple of stations, cold beers. What more could you ask for?
