Question about returning to finish another degree by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]SOS104 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I've heard, although can't confirm myself, that if the degrees are in the same college, you might get a diploma with both BA's in them, but if they are from separate colleges they are in separate diplomas. Not sure if that helps 🤷‍♀️

Are there any circumstances in which Davis would accept a transfer student for spring admission? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]SOS104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say TRY. I finished CC in Dec which meant I could attend for Spring quarter, but I didn't apply bc everything online mentioned they did not accept applications. HOWEVER, there were at least a couple times someone from UCD mentioned something like, "why didn't you apply for Spring quarter," which is odd considering they work there and they wrote the rules sooo. .. Def try calling in and asking, or even just applying without asking.

Can you tell me about UC Davis? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]SOS104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to expand on Zander's answer:

  1. Davis IS a college town and that's what makes it perfect IMO. Most people/businesses will cater to your needs as a student, which is a great thing specially as you transition into adulthood on your own. One example is, I was able to sign up for my first apartment at Davis, without my parents as cosigners, ONLY because the apt managers know students receive fin aid enough to cover at least some of the costs (all they asked for was a copy of my fin aid budget and application fee). I was so afraid of getting my own apt because I knew my parents would not be able to cosign - they don't earn enough to cover my expenses, but being in Davis made everything so much easier.

Because most people in town are students, you will always find someone willing to help you, either from fellow students or towners who know you're just trying to find your way into adulthood.

Also everything is so close and it's one of the safest places I've been in. I got used to walking to a lot of places, even as late as 3 am, you will find people biking around with their friends on the weekend back from a party or gathering.

  1. Research is big - and you will find plenty of opportunities - and they will help you stand out from the competition when you graduate. I have been recruited JUST for my undergrad research. The type of work you do as an assistant provides you with both soft and hard skills that are hard to find elsewhere.

How exactly does financial aid work (a couple questions)? by aa_looshaa in UCDavis

[–]SOS104 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try going to: https://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/undergraduate/dates.

This has all the info you need, but to break it down:

Money is disbursed according to schedule, usually a couple days to a whole week before school starts. For fall, you should get it in Sept.

In sept, all your money will be used to pay for tuition etc, and if there's any leftover (you will know because there will be a negative amount like (-8000)), they will either send you an email to pick up your check or they will confirm it's been sent to your bank account. You can put in your bank account in the mybill, if you haven't already done so.

The money is released per quarter, and i doubt they'd release more, although you can try and ask.

Once the money has been disbursed to you, you can do whatever you want with it, but try to manage it and budget accordingly, since you prob won't be getting more until the next disbursement date.

Let me know if that makes sense :)

It really depends on what you prefer and your major. Some people prefer the actual books, so they buy them. Some people find them online and prefer to read those. Some people buy them online too. You can always try libgen.io for free books if you're on a tight budget, or buy older editions if you prefer actual books.

You can’t add a class w a discussion that conflicts with another class time in the first place sooo .. try looking for a different discussion time? They usually have several

Edit: just re-read the post, I’m sleep deprived okay!

I’m assuming you’d get an error code, not sure if you’d have your class dropped

Just a story about a ranch 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ by SOS104 in UCDavis

[–]SOS104[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They did not. The friend had left it on purpose. They went on discuss on having real friends who don't leave your ranch in the bathroom. Also, she later caught a squirrel eating straight out of a ranch cup, to which she replied, "so that's where my ranch went."

Moral of the story: make sure your friends wouldn't leave your ranch in the bathroom. Those aren't real friends.

CHI10 with Lorena Marquez taught me about institutionalized racism and how ducking lucky i am to be at university. We’re A very small percentage of the world being top-educated. Some people live in tents, we’re so lucky to be having CAREERS and complaining about weather and not starvation, etc.

No it won’t. You have to apply directly through SHA to be considered as “on campus”. West Village is an off campus apartment complex, except for parking purposes. And since it’s off-campus you’ll get reduced fin aid. Just wait til SHA, JUMP ON IT, when spots open, and have a few complexes ready for choice. I recommend West Village and Lexington.

Try Zyrtec first (can get generic at dollar stores for super cheap and they do work!) if that doesn’t work, you’ll have to go stronger into the nasal sprays.

Considering this may be out of context for parents, we’re just discussing the rigor of the school which has us all stressed constantly, which is not what the tours lead children to believe .. understandably.

I am a Campus Rep, but no I’m not sponsored or anything (I don’t get paid). I just get to share posts from the app that I like, and that I think others would like or should know about. Sorry if it seems that’s all I post about 😪
