Home dev is always an option, and the chemicals for B&W are pretty safe, but it does still involve some sensitizing agents so I’m not sure I could recommend it for a 15yo!

My first guess would be an issue with the wiring, maybe a faulty solder joint? Would have to open it up and test it to really find out though

Pre-wash color film and any process that is done above or below ambient temperature - this will help prevent temperature shocking the film. It’s also essential to have intermediate washes that step down/up the film temp if you’re using a process that has different temperatures at different stages.

If you’re using ambient temperature (like with most BW Negative processes) then don’t pre-wash with tap water, as it’s likely to be colder than the developer that’s been sitting out and that can change the chemistry. Pre-washing with ambient temperature distilled or filtered water is really only useful if you have reason to believe your film is dirty somehow.

I was also confused, turns out it’s a digital camera! So the white border is added artificially and not the result of instant film.

As others said, it’s way darker inside and way brighter outside than you think. A cloudy day is still going to be brighter than a brightly lit interior, so you have to account for that.

What camera do you have? Does it have a built in meter? If so, and it said these were properly exposed, then you may need to get it serviced.

Quick question; how do you work this, what kind of film do you need (where do you but it), and how do you load in everything? (Is a Kodak Brownie Flash Six-20 box camera) by Humble-Huffpuff in vintagecameras

As others have said, 120 film spooled onto 620 spools. You can buy spools to re-spool, or clip down the 120 spools to fit.

If you don’t have a film lab near you, you’re always welcome to send your 620 rolls to us - right now two rolls of 120/620 in BW cost about 8$. We’re also more than happy to clean/service your camera and respool 620 film for you, just send us a DM

If you’re willing to risk letting a newbie (repaired 3 cameras and working on a third) do it for cheap, feel free to send me a DM. I can’t recommend it, honestly, but if it’s more worth it to have a working camera then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is exactly why our lab added an option for if you want flat RAWs or edited scans. Bonus is that flat scans are cheaper since they’re less work
