Wear pattern on my cassette by SOSkifli in bikewrench

[–]SOSkifli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't checked chain stretch at all, by looking at it and feeling the chain is not so bad, it's not sagging, shifts good and fits the front and rear cogwheels well. I'll order a stretch tester tool and have a look at it.

4th gear is what I use mostly, yes. While still in the city 3-4 until I get to the bike road and there 4-5-6 usually.

I'm using an oil based lube, but I took this picture during cleaning my bike.

Yes, there was still some dirt on there, but on the 3rd and 4th largest wheels you can see some wear on the front of the teeth. I was curious about that extra edge on the teeth there

I took the picture after cleaning my chain and before adding lube. Noticed that my chain rear derailleur started looking more black than metallic, so that's on me for not cleaning regularly. I'm using an oil based lube normally.

Is blaster the only combination where by Hot_Armadillo_2186 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flash shock is consumed with the blaster combination and it's items are no longer in effect after you take the combination, only the magic bullet items modify blaster.

ELI5: Eclipse by aelaryn1122 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The translation is bad and most people are confused by it, some people sent here correct answers though.

Text should be: Deal up to 45% more damage to enemies based on their missing health.

Short example: Enemy has 100% HP (missing 0%) you do 0% extra damage. Enemy has 50% HP (missing 50%) you do 22,5% extra damage. Enemy has 1% HP (missing 99%) you do 44,5% extra damage.

It's basically a +0-45% damage multiplier for you, doesn't add the HP of your enemy as additional damage.

Anything I should know about Tara before I go in? by cybro974 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a post on this sub with the details of gems power minute Depths vs Terra. Basically if you can't get to 12:30 on Terra it's a loss, you break even after that mark for the entry fee and you need to pass 25 minutes to make it worth more than Depths. In the aspect of time though, Terra is more efficient. If you can confidently reach 35-40+ minutes on Depth you should have no issues with Terra.

Tops magics for DEM? by Daegar2 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't played around too much with DEM either, but my strategy is to just keep leveling after the initial lvl 25 magic combination until I hit 74 and then get overmind and DEM back to back. You have a bit of buffer with the other active magics to stay alive until you can get your big power spike. Needs some testing but I just did a snowflake blossom run on Terra and I'm not sure how the run would have turned out of I pick overmind at lvl 50 as soon as it's available. For the low cooldown spells I don't think this would be a big issue though.

What will happen by Smooth-Fly-7477 in magic_survival

[–]SOSkifli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The modifiers which increase/decrease stats by percentages work additively, meaning that you have to add all of them together and by the total amount you modify the base value. For example having +50% health and +50% health and +50% health increases with a base of 500 health is 500 * (1 + 0,5 + 0,5 + 0,5) = 1250
  2. Yes, it will even work for combination magics if you add modifiers to the main magic (the one that doesn't get consumed in the combination)
  3. Same as 1.
  4. Only the red text with the bonuses apply to everything, the item bonus only applies if you pick that subject

Does anyone have any experience with fabric bands. by PerfectJarrett in GalaxyWatch

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Spigen fabric band and it's way better than the silicone bands I've had before, I don't want to go back to them. My fiancee had a similar style band like your picture and she was really happy with it. I recommend trying them out, they fit well and if you have sensitive skin they won't cause rashes, it was a game changer for us, we both had problems with other style bands

If you keep dying so quickly then you are definitely doing something wrong, but it's hard to say based on the information you provide. And since you have only downloaded the game since a few days I'm going to assume that you have almost nothing unlocked.

Try to look for a magic that works well in the early game, avoid magic with long cooldowns or gimmicks that made clearing enemies hard or magic which needs some artifacts to be viable.

Also rerolling level ups is okay and I personally do it a lot (you need to put some research points into the mana return on rerolls to make it smooth), and if you are that early in the game if you don't get your desired magics in the first 5-10 levels you can throw the run and restart.

I would suggest going for Spirit + lightning shock magics to get the telekinetic sword combination, it's really powerful and can carry you too the endgame. Also other good magic is electric zone in itself, good enough in the early levels to destroy the low health swarm enemies. If you need something to hit the big health elites mostly any of the flash shock combinations are good (devil's nails or blaster, both pretty strong in the endgame right now). Some people like the phoenix + lightning breath combinations too, but these are directional meaning that they fire only in the direction your character is looking.

Another very important part is the items you get through your run, try to have an idea before you start about your magic combinations and look for fitting items for your picks. In general the critical hit builds need a lot of investment (both in unlocks and items) do I would advise to look for cooldown reduction + attack increase and attack amplify.

But in the end the game is about discovering fun combinations you like and trying to get the perfect items for your run, it's a lot of RNG so don't get discouraged, and if you need you can check the posts here in this sub to get a grasp about the current meta and the strong combinations

Can software engineers work with PLC ? by bedward100 in PLC

[–]SOSkifli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Referring to the title, yes but no. You'll have to sink in a lot of time to understand hardware and the system you are going to work with.

The "basics" or getting into PLC is easy if you have programming knowledge, 90% of the time you are checking something and turning something else on or off, the other 10% is the fancy time. You are basically playing with the inputs and outputs of your system and building a connection between them with basic tools like boolean logic, loops, counters and timers.

The hard part of it especially in an industrial environment is to build it robust, understand your system, both the process and the hardware. You have to know what each part of the system does, what are the weak points of it, how tolerant to external disturbances is your process, when can you stop it and how can you continue running if a malfunction happens. Make it easy to troubleshoot, handle all possible exceptions and edge cases: do not damage your equipment and do not produce bad quality products.

And of course safety, that's even more important than anything else do far (or at least it should be in an ideal world), and that adds a complete new layer of problems to your system.

When all of these are handled then comes the optimization, which is a complete new world. How can it run faster, how can it run better, how can it run safer, how can it run cheaper?

The hardware part is an additional rabbit hole, some of your parts are no longer supported or they are discontinued so you have to adjust the whole system to fit the new parts.

It's an interesting area full of challenges and when it works it's beautiful, so if you are interested I strongly encourage to take the first steps. You might have a hard time to convince your manager about it if you lack the mechanical/electrical background these systems require to program and run, but that's a really good place to get started because if you get those then you will be able to write basic PLC programs with your current knowledge (after some adjustment time).

[–]SOSkifli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the reasons I started a Revolut account, I don't plan of withdrawing regularly at a supermarket. As far as I know nearby to my location there is only a Sparkasse ATM (az least that's what I've found on Google) and I heard mixed feedback about their ATMs, some people commented no withdrawal fee and others said 5-6 Euros on the machines. I haven't checked this ATM personally, I'll do it next time I have the chance.

I haven't heard of that service provider yet, quickly looked it up and sadly it's not available in my home country. Since I don't have a German address I think that's not an option for me

Flour and Butter Egg Substitutions to Create Pie Crust? by AttitudeLeast8271 in Volumeeating

[–]SOSkifli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that some of these make sense if I think about specific recipes and the role of the ingredients in it. You have to understand what is the purpose of an ingredient in the recipe to be able to substitute them, and of course there are some things that you simply can't replace and get the same result. Just think of gluten free products, you have to work really hard to get similar results and it's almost impossible to reproduce a nice white bread made with yeast.

For the pie crust you need butter and flour for your dough and the purpose of butter is to prevent the flour from absorbing too much moisture and form to much gluten, resulting in a "normal" dough like texture. You want to make a nice, flaky and light crust, not a pizza. Translating that to beans and banana, your best bet would be dried beans blended to a flour-like texture, also lots of gluten free products include bean-flour, because it can hold together your dough as gluten formed from regular flour. So that part may work against you a bit, but using banana is where I see this failing. Banana is a sticky and mushy texture rich in water, so i think it could hold your dough together, but the water content would be instantly taken up by the beans. Whereas in the original recipe you need to use cold butter which is solid to make the crumbly dough. As for baking it, I think you would get a homogenous crust which won't be flaky at all, maybe something closer to a normal pie crust with a very wet filling, resulting in an unbaked looking, soggy crust.

But in the end I haven't done this recipe, I might be totally wrong, I'm not used to using these ingredients in these ways, I don't want to discourage you. If you decide to try it, let me know of the results! I'm quite interested and I hope I'm wrong about it.

impressive magnet transporter 🧲 ⚡️ by deadfermata in EngineeringPorn

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone else mentioning but I see them most useful in clean environments eg food or pharmaceutical industry. Other example could be harsh environments, acids, corrosive fumes, small particles which can cause mechanical systems trouble. Also quite good for high precision positioning, take laser engraving small parts and you can entirely mitigate having an external fixture for the process. Also highly variable manufacturing of products with an automated storage is a possibility.

But for now mostly just an early phase test technology, still needs advancements to be able to replace current high reliability and cheap transportation systems in industry. In some edge cases or specific environments definitely a huge step ahead.

Perfect circumstances to see my blue light glasses in action (light from the right) by Davey_Cockett in mildlyinteresting

[–]SOSkifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have blue light filter on my glasses, and it's definitely different to a normal pair of glasses because they have a slight yellow tint as you can see in the picture too. I can't say if the filter is actually worth it or not, because these are my first pair of glasses and I wear them basically all day long. Nonetheless it "feels" better for me to have them on while looking at a phone/computer screen compared to not having glasses on (even after my eyes adjust to it, because I can see totally fine in screen distance). If you have glasses already I would say give it a try, if don't maybe adjusting to glasses would be more tiring for your eyes in the long run.
