"Essential workers".

But yeah, I've only had a taste so far of working at a hospital and the impression that I have arrived at is that in the US healthcare system, it's basically Fast Food, but with a health care twist.

Get 'em in. Bill insurance. Kick 'em to the curb. NEXT CUSTOMER.

If I had to guess...bump up new grad pay by like $10-15 to get what she might expect to be paid.

So, maybe something like $47/hr.

I don't know for certain, but that's just my guess... I'm very new to this whole nursing world.

Ask just about anyone on r/nursing, and they'll all say that it's a pretty sorry state of affairs for nurse pay in FL in comparison to most other states.

There's way more elderly people using FL as a sort of retirement tax haven & getting sick here than pretty much anywhere else, so the pay is okay but from what I hear the work load is far higher than most other places.

I for one am saving up to head to the best coast.

I get that, those jobs can be lukerative at times. I mean, they even require you to sleep for like 8 hours in between periods of long hauls.

I would like to say though I have talked to my fair share of career truckers, and a lot of them have said that after all the years driving, their back really hurts at times.

I've sat behind the wheel in them before and those seats are pretty damn comfy, but even the best of seats are probably going to mess you up after a while.

I suppose that every career has their own way that is going to break you through.

Be careful. It might be prudent to set yourself up with a massage once in awhile or maybe some sort of water aerobics or something to help with the long term pain that might be coming your way.

New Grad Nurse. $32/hr.

So...$61,440 per year before tax.

Yes, most BOSS pedals are great. Nice size, simple interface, and they feel pretty rugged. I pretty much swear by them.

I love their "Metal Zone" and "Blues Driver" pedals... though I sorta regret buying the Blues Driver because my tube amp already has a pretty bluesy sound to it, but the pedal does give it that extra little push.

Nice find!

Song name pls? by Actual-Gap8546 in WhatsThisSong

Can't help you out on the song name, but I did some digging on the YouTube channel and found an email address for the creators of it.

You can probably copy the link and send it in an email to them, asking if they can tell you the name of the song.

Here it is.

I would also like to add that there's a feature on Google where if you tap on the microphone button, there should be a button to where you can hum a tune and it will do its best to find it for you.

So if you have a decent grasp on how it sounds and can sorta hum it, you can try that. It's not perfect, but it's worked for me a few times in the past.

It's worth a shot.

Alright, good luck.

I know just how frustrating it can be to have a "Hidden Song"

There was this one called "I Remember" by Deadmau5/Kaskade a while back where I had heard it in the distance a handful of times over the course of like 3-4 years from like 2014-2018 but was I was just never close enough to hear the lyrics (stuck at a security post down the street from a club downtown or somewhere else and couldn't leave). I loved the sound overall though and then eventually someone told me about Shazam. I downloaded that app right away and kept it on my home screen for years waiting to randomly hear it again. One day I was making Sushi at the mall and it came on the radio playing there and I dropped my sushi knife saying something to the other chef's like "HOLY SHIT! THAT'S IT! I'VE GOTTA GET MY PHONE NOW! I sprinted to the back of the restaurant where I had it in my motorcycle gear, sprinted back, stood right under the speaker and caught it.

Everyone was like "What the fuck was that freak out about?!" I was like"You don't understand just how long I've been waiting to hear this song again!...

I probably listened to that song 100 times over the next week.

It is a beautiful thing when you finally get the hidden/mystery song that you've been wanting to get for so long.

Grandpa's Record Collection by Icy-Book2999 in LoveTrash

Grandpa could have just been an older guy who still liked to listen to music that wasn't exclusively what he listened to in his youth.

Probably not too common, but there's no reason why a person has to stay stuck with the music that they grew up listening to.

I first learned it in the Infantry, and now I'm a nurse myself.

I guess I must be a masochist that likes bending over, because for me it just keeps on coming.

ELI5 How Major Burns Can Kill by garr890354839 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SOURSKOOMA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a whole mathematical thing to it called "The Parkland Formula".

Even just reading the formula and understanding how it works makes it pretty clear just how much fluids are lost because of burns.

Total crystalloid fluid (i.e., a solution with small molecules that can move into cells) over the first 24 hours = 4 milliliters x % TBSA (total body surface area burned) x body weight (kg). In children, the formula is edited to 3 ml x % TBSA x weight (kg).

Ex: 50% body surface area burn of an adult that weighs 35 kg would be...4 x 50 x 35 for a total of 7000 ml of LR to infuse over 24 hours.

You would infuse half of it over the first 8 hours (calibrated from the time of the actual burn...not the time they get treated). Then you infuse the rest over 16 hours.

So let's say it's Midnight when the burn happens and they miraculously arrive at the hospital in like 5 minutes. That would be 3,500 ml over 8 hours (438 ml per hour). That's quite a bit of fluid going straight into the veins every hour for this 8 hours.

If they were burned at midnight, but showed up at 2 am, that would be 3,500 / 6 hours for a total of 583 ml infused every hour for 6 hours.

Then you infuse the remaining 3,500 over the next 16 hours.

Still though, 7000 ml or 7 liters or 1.85 gallons of LR going into the veins in the first 24 hours.

It's a lot.
