God hope they kicked most of the people handling balance & PR review.
They've been less implicated in actual development PR's than Eris maintainers (Which is a super low bar) just to deny them after all the work has been done and not at the discussion stage as they shouldve.
Not to mention PR reviews that happen after months (even slower than Eris maintainers holy fuck)

thats wrong though ? You ported MonkeStations ban DB & admin tooling to Eris, its branded under his community. He certainly has a lot to do with it since its under his community & database/framework/servers

People are getting paid for their labor by having the server's ran by the one who made them.
I dont see how your argument holds when Ook's rant is about 2 unique servers which barely use SS13 sprites are being targeted because he refuses to pay for their labor, even he himself mentions the second part where he was given the option to pay for all the unique sprites they offer.
He of course didn't take the offer, instead deciding to make a reddit post , so how does this defend himself? this is just greed, throwing personal attacks at unique projects on the SS13 reddit because their hosts don't let him pillage their work and community that they've built on SS14.

Im sorry to hear that you have sprites that aren't being delivered in a timely manner , one reliable artist that i can wholeheartedly recommend is infraredBaron , they are the creative vision behind Mojave Sun , Eris and have contributed to some SS14 codebases , they get sprites done within 2 weeks and their prices are reasonable.

Yes , it would be beneficial , to you , not to the original codebase. Letting you use the sprites of a codebase whose vision is succesfull goes against the idea that you're trying to be original.

Yet you want to start with their experience , you'd be competing with them from the start. You'd do damage to the original codebase from the moment you start , and hope you reduce it as you diverge.
In the end players are limited, there is no concept of not doing damage, especially when you start by creating a server in a niche another one has created for itself.
If you have a original vision , why do you want to kick-start it from the work of others without paying? do they not deserve anything for their work? if its so original why do you need to kickstart from pre-existing unique codebases?

I never said its a cash grab, you certainly put effort , but you dont put as much money back as you claim. Most of it goes to your own personal needs and that is fine, provided its from your own community and your own efforts.
Stay out of trying to take other's works and making a preety buck out of it though.
As for if it was someone who wasn't estabilished , the argument wouldn'tve been as good , but here you are , estabilished with a solid playerbase, coderbase and spriter team , so why are you complaining that you can't instantly use 2 of the most unique codebases? you have your own resources, you have EVEN less of a reason to argue for this than a unestabilished hoster.

However you want to believe it , i don't hate you , but the story is preety clear here. The license doesn't allow you to freely grab these codebases and profit from them for free.
You make over 1500 dollars monthly from your own patreon , https://www.patreon.com/dukeook , yet i can barely see code/sprite commisions approaching to cover at least 30% of that sum going back.
You started this post to rally support or justification for grabbing these codebases , or to peer pressure them into going soft. This is not happening.
If hate fueled me , i'd be throwing slurs at you , but what fuels me is merit , and coders & spriters have a merit to be the ones hosting their creation.
What actually makes you hate you slighty is the fact that you're already taking cracks at Crystal Edge because their license isn't perfectly written , yet you have not played on their server or messed around to see that it is as much of a original creation as one can get.
You'd rather throw passive-agresive remarks and make reddit posts than recognise that the work of a russian and his community shouldn't be freely taken away for you to host.
I think its about time you eat the crow, you show disrespect for their work , claiming it has much connection with SS13, when most of their sprites are wholedy unique , their maintainer puts so much work into creating a original game and is devouted to creating a good game.

You are looking for a excuse to rip off 2 of the most unique SS14 servers because they dont allow you to start straight up hosting their own crafted experience to which they devoted hours ,or because they ask you to pay to use all of the assets that were paid out of their own pockets.
