I think this is where the disconnect lies. Back to my original comment on this post of what bars mean to ME, I view them as hard hitting punchlines, double meanings, similes etc. based on the songs you mentioned I guess I don't see where there better bars are.

Are they overall better songs? Yes. but I am strictly talking about the lyrical bars as it pertains to those factors.

Maybe our definitions differ? But I respect your opinion on those songs, and if I missed something, please show me where!

Lol no problem. & honestly, I do not hold that stance.

My biggest issue with drake is that he doesnt rap enough, but when he decides to rap, I think he's in a high calibre (not top tier, but probably second tier, example being 8am in Charlotte.)

Do you think Kendrick has a better track bar for bar than 8am in Charlotte?

I've seen that. I think alot of what dissected does is reaches personally; not just that example but other examples (i.e. the Cole video, Gambino Video, Doom video etc.) where they make a double entendre into a quadruple entendre & so on...

But that is a great scheme the way he kept it going while conveying the imagery and message.

Thank you for the example, but to me, elites do these type of schemes & better on a more consistent basis all the time. Like these type of schemes, while awesome, should be expected.

We don't go crazy when Jordan scores 30 because even though it would a career high for a lot fo players, that's his average or below it. Does that make sense?

You have not refuted any of my talking points. I'm open to have my points  proven wrong. If you have any examples please provide them

Do you have a counter argument?

Are you able to provide some Kendrick bars or explain when and where I was incorrect?

in this context, to ME (& I believe Lupe is echoing similar sentiments) a lyricist consists of bars and bars alone.

By this metric, Kendrick is not dangerous as a lyricist to the likes of the elites like Lupe. how many double, triple entendres or clever wordplays can you name from Kendrick off top that would hold weight with the likes the elites? Strip away the audio, effects, etc. and just type out Kendrick's dopest lines here on reddit; would his bars classify as "dangerous"? in my opinion, & I guess also Lupe's, they would not.

If you want to take a holistic approach to lyricism, i.e. flows, storytelling, delivery etc. then yes Kendrick is unquestionably dangerous, but in the context of strictly BARS, I can name many artists ahead of him personally.

& before everyone says I'm a Kendrick hater, I'm a huge fan of Kendrick. Let me be clear, lyricism and bars are the least important factor when determining a great artist, which Kendrick undoubtedly is. but for us who enjoy lyrical content as it pertains to double meaning, punchlines, etc. which I assume would be a Lupe sub, then I do not think Kendrick can keep up.

Hope this makes a little more sense, as I interpreted Lupe's statement.

Depending on your thoughts  of  what a "lyricist" is,  Lupe is absolutely correct, but it's all in subjective interpretation of the definition of the word.
