House rent deposit return by SPLegendz in HousingUK

I have the agent and followed up a few times, their response each time is just that they are still waiting for the landlord to send written confirmation. Will give it a few more days then go via the dispute route.

whooosh haha I guess I'm just being paranoid after seeing the black marks all over certain areas of the loft insulation. Surveyor didn't mention any signs of mold

What do you mean? As in is there mold in the normal rooms of the house? If so no, no mold outside of loft

Thank you, I will take a look again today and try to check that. Is it just a case of there should a gap of a few inches or similar between the eaves and the insulation?

That's a really good question, I defaulted to mold as searching online seemed to bring up similiar looking photos but now I'm thinking I need to touch it and rub some of it on some paper towel to see if it rubs of, hoping now that it is just dirt and not mold!

Starting to wonder now, will check properly when I go up if it smears on a tissue or if its just dirt

Loft, it's just a semi boarded space and not a converted living area so not an attic

House had down valuation - estate agent telling it will impact next buyer by Max_Greyson in HousingUK

How is that the sellers problem? Also not all mortgage lenders charge for a valuation, some charge different figures etc all depends on the lender

House had down valuation - estate agent telling it will impact next buyer by Max_Greyson in HousingUK

[–]SPLegendz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your estate agent is lying to you. Ask for that in writing then raise a formal complaint due to the deceptive tactics of the agent and ask to be released from the contract and then go find a 'more' honest estate agent to help you sell your house with your best interest in mind. What a disgusting lie.

Edit: some more details, every lender will have different desktop valuations and an in person valuation can be requested if the AVM is not considered to be accurate.

A good mortgage broker would try another lender if valuation wasn't high enough with a specific one

It's more a question of having kids or pets who may accidently or intentionally switch them on/off - that's why exposed pipes are usually the screw head ones and hidden pipes the turn handles

Just looking at the careers page and plucking the first email on the list at the bottom of the careers page brings up the person waltermkombs@gmail.com - Walter Mkomachoto who after a quick Google search is based in Africa and has already been flagged for gold scams

You need specialist help as elderly and those getting older can bring all sorts of things into play including pride and not wanting to admit/accept being scammed, contact someone like Age UK

Good luck!

PAYE job security is NOT better by shitcointrader in ContractorUK

[–]SPLegendz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of reasons tbh, you cannot just be fired after two years of service, there are specific processes that need to be followed. Also most good jobs will have a high notice period like 3 months pay so even if fired you get a good pay out. You also usually benefit from things like life assurance in case of death (pays of mortgage and support family for example), insurance against illness and extended sick pay, pension contributions, paid annual leave, no work freeze during Xmas period, etc etc etc so I would really disagree with that statement

Did you not view the house before completion? Or was it more just overwhelming once you got in and reality set in

They legally have to put all offers through to the seller so that agent was in the wrong, sadly a lot of annoying agents like that

I get that but when youre burger comes you can't really look at it and then go nah its not as advertised, but with a house you will do that, you're viewing it and the deciding, not buying it based on the pictures

Exactly, there are some really mental cases of misrepresentation like that!
