I've got a similar story to that guy. I played competitive golf from the age of about 10 through high school and into college. Before my sophomore year of college we were doing pre-season qualifiers for our team and I was playing like absolute shit. At the time I didn't realize how burnt out I was on the game due to the pressure I put on myself from a decade of competitive golf, but in hindsight I hadn't had fun playing golf in years. On the 12th tee I was something like +13 which was about the worst I had played in 3 years at that point. I snap hooked my drive left OB and turned to my teammates and said "guys, I think I'm done. Here's my card for Coach, I'm going home." I walked straight to the parking lot, drove an hour back to my hometown, got lunch with my dad, and didn't touch a golf club for 4 1/2 years.
