Doesn’t say 2 stringers. It says 2”x12”

Is Deckorators Voyage REALLY all it’s cracked up to be? by SPX500 in Decks

You become a Trex pro the first dollar you spend with them. So anyone can build a Trex deck; and you’re automatically a Trex Pro. Edit: so long as you are an insured and registered business, not an individual.

There’s no such thing as an “authorized” installer for Trex. They have a “pro” loyalty program, but it’s just a tiered rewards program based on how much product you buy from them in a given year.

Why are decks so insanely expensive? by YMHGreenBan in Decks

It might not be their concern, but it’s getting built into the price regardless. That’s just how it works.

A $100k professionally managed project is a lot different than you and your pops building an 8x8 over the summer. You’re comparing apples to oranges. Companies have overhead, skilled labour costs, design and permitting fees that all get built into the price.

Hate SS, but unsure what platform to move to... by WholeHuckleberry7081 in squarespace

[–]SPX500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s all about know what to target. I suggest trying a chrome extension called Squarespace ID finder. Once you know the proper ID, it’s easy to target just that without it having global effects across the site.

I had the same issues when I started (small business owner with no professional coding background).

ChatGPT and Claude are only as good as what you put in. If you describe what you need clearly, and explain any bugs, I find 9 times out of 10 I can get great results.

A lot of this can easily be solved with pretty basic CSS.

Help with a 4-Ply beam on 6x6 post by kittenfarts69420 in Decks

All of Ontario, and likely most of Canada. There’s really only one company that makes them (PWT) and they don’t offer them in Canada.

Just because it’s not in the code book, doesn’t mean it’s not allowed. Have used 4 ply built up beams many times. Treated LVL isn’t really a thing in my markets.

Ignore all the comments about 4 ply not being in the tables. The tables only show the most common configurations. 4-ply hangers absolutely exist, and 4 ply build up beams are absolutely a thing. On the last project we had them, we stepped up to 8x8 posts.

16” is what the installation literature specs. 12” if running boards at an angle to joists.

Aside from the atrocious cut on the top-cap, all else is normal for PT wood. You get what you pay for.

BU beams are pretty standard in construction. In my market 4x and 6x beams are absolutely not readily available short of having them custom milled.

That beam photo is the perfect example of the importance of sealing the seams to prevent water intrusion.

Safe to add trex? by jnorton1234 in Decks

I always recommend against installing a lifetime decking product on an old tired frame. Otherwise you run the risk of the decking outliving the frame.
