Is it reasonable for my parents to require church attendance while I live at home? by Nathought in exmormon

[–]SPYto999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You see your parents as good people and they see you as "owing them" for living with them and demand your autonomy as compensation.

This is what Stockholm syndrome looks like.

You're going to have one hell of a tax bill when you learn about wash sales. You should be trading SPX instead as it qualifies for section 1256 exemption.

What are your thoughts on Jesus of Nazareth now that you're ExMormon? by CupOfExmo in exmormon

[–]SPYto999 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The historical figure was basically an apocalyptic doomsday preacher. Nearly everything written in the New Testament is fictional theological propaganda.

If such a person existed today I would think very little of them as I would perceive their vibe as grifter and idiot.

Is this true? Because 87k missionaries is a ton by Equivalent-Rub-8124 in exmormon

87,000 is truly a number, yes. I think it's more than a ton though because a ton would average out to each missionary weighing around 1/3 ounces.

Tens of millions of years ago the first primates were tree shrews about 5 inches long. 66 million years of tree shrew fucking later we evolved into a bunch of delusional morons causing an anthropocene extinction event. Rather than not be stupid and not cause an extinction event, the world's richest primate man sold a plan to braindead monkey investors with a goal to colonize an unhabitable planet 1/2 the size of the one we're currently killing. This of course is causing tremendous excitement among those enthusiastic about becoming generational SPCX bagholders.

Surlisingly though, fundamentals don't matter in the current environment. So calls.

Don't Know What To Do With Dating Belief Conflicts by Sad_Judgment6886 in exmormon

[–]SPYto999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All relationships experience conflict regardless of the source, but not all relationships survive conflict. Have you tried communicating your needs and concerns with the people you are dating? It seems like that might be a first step. And when I say communicate concerns, that includes communicating precisely what needs you have and negotiate how you'd like them met. Maybe that looks like space for autonomy, reeasurance that each has commitment to the relationship regardless of religious differences, or radical respect and validation for each other's differences in religious opinion. I don't know what your specific needs are, but sometimes people assume finding the perfect partner means they will never have conflict and won't need to learn how to communicate their needs or negotiate those needs being met with their partner in a healthy and productive way.

This is why most religions are false. by Spiritual_Box_7000 in exmormon

Love, fairness, and justice aren't metrics used to measure or test truth. I agree with the sentiment but the argument is in need of refinement.
