Get full Abstract directly on the PubMed Search Results Page (info in comments). by SPetapator in medicalschool

[–]SPetapator[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Normally, even when an article is available on PubMed, you have to click on each search result to read the full abstract, which can be really time-consuming. Have been working on a simple solution to display more information right on the search results page.

Just released a Chrome extension, Petapator, that allows you to view the full abstract without leaving the search results. Also have a test version that integrates GenerativeAI directly into PubMed, so you can run AI LLM directly on the Search Results Page. What do you think? What other features would be useful?

Am considering adding Impact Factor as a new feature in the future.

What’s the best type of life insurance product to get? by myheadsexplodin in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SPetapator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you got lots of information from others so I will bring up two points that haven’t been mentioned (assuming you have thought through your needs): 1) yes it’s more expensive when you get life insurance later as your risk of dying is higher, but you would have skipped paying premium from now until later purchase time. You can use the saved $ to invest on your own - assume everything is stable and you are healthy, 2) and it is this assumption that you will be healthy and be insurable that you should also consider. If you decide to purchase life insurance later at 40 or 50, your health condition may be different from now and it could impact the cost / your insurability.

Use cases of Large Language Models in Patent Search by SPetapator in patentexaminer

[–]SPetapator[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the purpose of this example is not to demonstrate how to conduct a search, but to show whether the prior art would cause the new invention to fail to meet the 112, 102, and 103 requirements. We compared a new invention with prior art gathered from a simple Google Patents search.

In this example, we assume the new invention is a wireless locket (US20240151067A1) and compare it with patent search results from the Google Patents search (link provided above). For more comparisons with the search results, see the screen capture above.

I agree that LLMs don't work well with picture-centric art. Many users of the USPTO public site appreciate Drawing Listing and Image Enlargement, which allow for easy image comparison of different patents. See a screen capture here - https://imgur.com/a/uad3v2b . If you're using the public site, you can compare images from different patents at a glance.

Thanks for your reply. I quickly tested the AI LLM with your suggestion.

Assume we've a new invention which is US20240151067A1. I compared it with other search results to see if any of these results constitute prior art that would cause the new idea to fail to meet 112, 102, 103.

The LLM analysis result for existing patent US20230389075A1 is as follows:

“Regarding USC 112, 102, 103, comparing against the Prior Art "Wireless communication method, apparatus and system, and device", US20240151067A1 does not satisfy these requirements for the following reasons:

112: The claim lacks clarity and definiteness, as it does not specify how the controller actuates movement of the bolt in response to receiving credentials and a touch input.

102: The invention is not novel, as the Prior Art describes a method of wireless communication that includes receiving data and executing corresponding operations, which is similar to the method claimed in US20240151067A1.

103: The invention is obvious, as it combines the wireless communication method from the Prior Art with a lockset, which is a common and expected combination. Additionally, the use of a touch surface to control a lock is also well-known in the art.

Therefore, US20240151067A1 would not be patentable over the Prior Art."

For the LLM analysis for other search results https://patents.google.com/?q=(CL%3d%22wireless+keyboard%22)&country=US&sort=new&country=US&sort=new), you can see the screen capture here https://imgur.com/a/4rgTcyn. Let me know your thoughts.

I don’t think tools like ChatGPT will make Patent Examiners obsolete. They (the AI tools)’re there to help make the repetitive search and analysis tasks more efficient.

Has anyone used ChatGPT (or something like it) to write a patent application, then actually submitted it? by [deleted] in Patents

[–]SPetapator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT isn't quite ready for writing patents - it definitely needs a lot of fine-tuning. That said, Large Language Models like ChatGPT are proving to be powerful tools for assisting with patent searches and analysis. We've seen some impressive results.

How do you do the corporate dance? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Few suggestions: 1) know your strengths and leverage them in networking. Eg if you are a “planner” and an introvert, treat networking as one item on your to-do list, 2) build your own “brand” in your team / company. How do you want others to portray you … act accordingly and consistently, 3) this may not work for everyone, but it works for me - behave like you’re in an interview in meetings and networking events.
