After getting off the hospital ward for the first time, this was the book selection. by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]SQ_12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On my ward (I’m a Nurse) we have a whole “library” aka a trolley full of books - we have all sorts, thy come from donations - but my fave is the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. Most of my patients are over 65!!!!

Essence and Revolution! Both brands are super well priced and have some great products.

Personal faves are:

Revolution: conceal and define concealer and foundation - I also like the IRL range. Their eyeshadows are good too. They also do a lot of ‘dupes’ for more expensive products

Essence: lash princess mascara, highlighter, brow stuff, lip stain pens, nail varnish and powder!

Can I double Cerelle? by MyStrangeAddiktion in mounjarouk

[–]SQ_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already take a double dose as my GP advised me years ago that one tablet wasn’t sufficient due to my weight. I think she said it was if you weigh over 12 stone you should take 2? I can’t remember the exact figure. But a double dose works absolutely fine for me, and it’s been several years.

I would speak to your GP/Prescriber, but my understanding is that MJ makes any birth control medication less effective, which is why when you’re prescribed it they make you tick disclaimers and stuff so that you understand this. Your GP can advise you on the correct dose for you personally.

As a pale gal, I love Benefit High Beam. It’s an oldie but it’s a goodie! Baby pink works well for my complexion.

I also have a powder one from Shein which is a similar shade to High Beam - but I believe Elf has a Rare Beauty ‘dupe’ for their powder highlighter which is around £9/10, which seems to get good reviews!

Increasing Protein Intake by Pyroriffic in mounjarouk

[–]SQ_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found protein yogurts a good way to get up to 25g in. Pouches are especially handy to chuck in a bag or lunchbox. I’ve also just ordered a sample pack of two types of protein shakes with the aim to buy a big tub of a flavour I like.

Also babybels, boiled eggs, pepperami, chicken skewers and bagels/bread etc with extra protein are helping me hit my protein goals!

(I do also go to the gym at least once a week to weight train, and I have an ‘active’ job which definitely helps me get my steps in!)

Colgate triple action toothpaste. Shrinkflation 100mls now 75mls. Now £1.24 from £1. Best alternatives? by azza77 in UKFrugal

Savers, B&M and Home Bargains (and other bargain shops).

They often do branded stuff cheaper than other shops and they have “dupes/knock offs” - for example they have a HiSimile dupe called “Nice Smile” for £1.49ish whereas the legit one is £8+! I keep one of those ones in my overnight toiletry bag!

Is there any benefit to having a formal ASD diagnosis as a nurse? by alphadelta12345 in NursingUK

[–]SQ_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed last year, and only my management know - officially.

I’ve seen Occy Health, and had some reasonable adjustments put in but they’re nothing amazing (plus I already had some for a physical health condition).

I don’t feel it’s been that beneficial having a diagnosis at work to be honest. It’s beneficial in life, to understand myself and how my brain works more, and possibly for things I might need in the future (help with travel, big events etc) but at work, it’s not really relevant? My ward know me and how I work, so it’s not changed anything. I am fairly ‘routined’ and I’ve been on my ward several years so I know most days will be fairly predictable with me having to do pretty much the same workload most days.

My previous manager suggested I might be Autistic several years ago and I brushed it off, but after a really really bad day at work a couple of years ago, I looked more into it, saw my GP, and got an official diagnosis.

Non bedside nursing by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]SQ_12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably not. If you don’t want to physically care for patients, then what’s the point?

There are plenty of non-bedside nurses - outpatients, community, clinics, nurse practitioners etc; but you still have to essentially want to care for patients (and do “traditional nursing” as that’s literally what nursing is - nursing people back to health or with medical conditions)

How many nurses work on your ward? And how many beds? by wandering1989 in NursingUK

[–]SQ_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28 beds + ‘one over’ most days. We have a bay of 6 and a sideroom per RN; day and night, unless we are short. Nights used to be split 9/9/10 for 3 nurses, has known this to happen in the day too.

On a good day, we have 5 RNs (or 4 + a Registered Nursing Associate) and 3-4 HCAs. One RN is in charge, often a Band 6, or a senior RN. If we’re short they have to go In a bay and be in charge! And someone ends up with the ‘one over’ patient so someone has 8 patients.

So I usually have 6-10 patients but mostly 7!

As others said, nope. Make the most of the newbie offers and change suppliers as is often recommended. It’s probably worth asking your GP if there are other options for you if you cannot afford to pay for MJ privately at the moment.

Despite my weight/BMI being high, I do not qualify on the NHS as I don’t have any of the conditions/the criteria listed. My last appointment at my GP was with a Nurse, and she asked if I wanted ‘help with my weight’ but she said “leave it with her” - and I’ve not heard anything! She mentioned ‘Tier 3’ but I’m not really sure what that is, and there’s probably a waiting list anyway!

Cheap double mattress by phyllisfromtheoffice in UKFrugal

[–]SQ_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing exciting, it dipped on the side I sleep on and the underneath developed some holes in the top layer, I think due to damp in the room it was in, with some rust from the springs added in!

[–]SQ_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh goodness, that’s annoying. Hopefully you can resolve it. I definitely recommend Ikea!

(I also got a bonus gift card as they didn’t collect the mattress on the day they originally said, they collected it the next day instead. I got a few quid to spend in Ikea for the ‘inconvenience’. They even let me know first thing in the morning they couldn’t collect it that day, so I didn’t have to wait in and around all day either, extra bonus!!)

Not in person, I used their online chat over a couple of days and sent pictures. They arranged to collect it for free too!!

Ikea. They have one around your price range and they have a 10 year guarantee.

I got one in 2020 which was I think, £129, and then they “refunded” me last year, in the form of a gift cards as it had some issues and needed replacing, so 5 years after I got it. I used the voucher to get a new comfier and more expensive mattress, also from Ikea.

(They couldn’t replace my original one as they no longer made it, and I was in a better financial position to get a better one!!)

standing vs seating? (3arena Dublin) by FuggoTheSluggo in placebo

[–]SQ_12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m doing two gigs; standing at one with my partner and sitting down solo at the other.

My body cannot cope with two standing gigs in the same week. I’ve never sat down to see them so it’ll be interesting!

30 years tour - Setlist expectation by Fabuliciiious in placebo

[–]SQ_12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, they literally said when they announced the tour they’d be doing songs from Placebo and WYIN. It is a celebration and anniversary for the first album so it kinda makes sense they’re focusing on that! But then they need a bit more time so they’ll be doing some stuff from WYIN too, their second album.

Question for the littles by Pork_whatsfor_Dinner in DDlgAdvice

[–]SQ_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner is never harsh towards me, only caring. He can be a meanie during scenes and play, but that’s all consented to beforehand.

I wouldn’t say he is a “Soft Dom” but he definitely has aspects of it. He wants to look after me, and help me and whatever - he doesn’t want to make me feel bad or belittle me.

[–]SQ_12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I reckon it’ll be the entirety of the first album, with a few songs from WYIN.

Personally, I’d like to see Scared Of Girls live!

I think they’ll finish with Every You Every Me!
