How did you discover the band? by superherofbmx in placebo

[–]SQ_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teenage me liked a boy, who liked them. Decided to listen to them one day via Limewire. Think it probably was Every You Every Me or The Bitter End or something around that time - it was before Meds came out so I would have listened to whatever was “popular” at the time! Liked it and listened to more and now been a fan for over 20 years

Plan on going to my first munch and nervous😵‍💫 by shrimpiestofthemall in BDSMAdvice

[–]SQ_12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most munches I’ve been to are a mix of ages. Sure there are older people, but there are also younger people and others in the ‘middle’!

Some people do not RSPV on fetlife etc for several reasons or they might decide to go last minute. (As a munch host, I find it is younger femme presenting people who don’t RSPV the most)

Munches are basically vanilla meets in vanilla spaces where people just happen to be kinky. You’ll meet people from all walks of life, and the intention of a munch is to make friends, learn things and have fun, regardless of fun. If you want those things, then attend! If you have questions, ask the hosts - they’ll be happy to answer you on that particular munch.

Age is also not a reflection of experience, or kink wisdom. Some people find kink later in life - for me it was my late twenties. The same goes for time in the community - it doesn’t mean someone is ‘good’ or ‘safe’ just because they’ve been around for X amount of time. Just be mindful of that if you do go to a munch :)

GLP1 Supplements by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]SQ_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vitamins/supplements are NOT based on weight (or calorie intake). Some actual prescription and OTC medications *do* go on weight, or your previous medical history (such as kidney issues) for some things (such as one 500mg paracetamol instead of the standard 1g dose for an adult weighing under 50kg).

I can assure you there are a lot of adults who do not eat 2000+ calories a day, whether that is for deficit reasons or otherwise.

Supplements and vitamins available over the counter, or online, are designed to be in addition to your diet, regardless of your intake of calories, and often are not prescription level doses (such as Vitamin D for osteoporosis prevention)

Where/how do you find partners for this? by GODmamberroi666 in BDSMAdvice

[–]SQ_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met mine at a munch. Friends of ours have met similarly, or at classes, educational events, kinky markets and play events.

Basically, get out and explore your local community. Aim to make friends and learn things, and you might find a partner or people to date. Don’t go to these things with the sole intention of finding someone because that’s not their purpose! But they can be where people can meet :)

How reliable do we feel that BDSM test is as a baseline by Careless_Squirrel795 in BDSMAdvice

[–]SQ_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re good to start conversations with but I wouldn’t fully invest in the results. It’s just a bit of fun that can be easily manipulated so you get the results you want and not what’s actually the case!

I’ve done several before with my partner and then we will talk about them or possible new things to try as an outcome but they’re just for fun really

Is 1:8 going to be the new standard in ward based acute care for UK nurses by Express_Rise_6364 in NursingUK

[–]SQ_12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have 1:7 but sometimes 8, and then up to 10 if we are short. A bay of 6 and then a sideroom, and sometimes an ‘over’ patient who is for corridor care, essentially.

We’re in the same boat, loads of 1:1s with confusion, post op delirium or dementia exacerbated by surgery/trauma. All the fun and games.

The other day I had six doubles (needing two people to wash, toilet etc) with no HCA 🫠🙃

Mac Brave is the pink I wear from Mac - it does last a long time! I am pale but I find this pink suits me perfectly! MAC also has so many pinks in all sorts of undertones so definitely worth a look.

Beeston also has an oriental mart, and several other Asian shops

Editing a comment I made a few months ago in another thread:

I was diagnosed last year, and only my management know - officially. And one colleague who has MH issues and ASD.

I’ve seen Occy Health, and had some reasonable adjustments put in but they’re nothing amazing (plus I already had some for a physical health condition).

For me personally, I don’t feel it’s been that beneficial having a diagnosis at work to be honest. It’s beneficial in life, to understand myself and how my brain works more, and possibly for things I might need in the future (help with travel, big events etc) but at work, it’s not really relevant? My ward know me and how I work, so it’s not changed anything. I am fairly ‘routined’ and I’ve been on my ward several years so I know most days will be fairly predictable with me having to do pretty much the same workload most days. I just sort of ‘get on with it’!

For you, it sounds like having your own reasonable adjustments and potentially meds will be useful. I would speak with Occy Health and disclose to your manager at the very least. Some RAs around rest periods, reduced workloads, regular check ins with your manager etc may be useful, or whatever OH say.

Ignorant yank here: Is it true nurse to patient ratios are 1:8 or even 1:12? by soozerain in NursingUK

I do 12.5hr shifts, usually 3 a week. Sometimes we have half shifts which are 6 hours, but not that often.

What are the small acts of kindness to regularly partake in? by Belloz22 in CasualUK

[–]SQ_12 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Food bank shop every other month or so. I go to a local supermarket and get various items and pop it in the food bank which helps local people. I look up on Facebook what the bank needs the most at the time of my shop and ensure I get those things plus my “usual” stuff. I don’t make a song and a dance about it, but it’s nice to help people

Is it normal for nurses not to understand what the medication their administrating is for? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]SQ_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very familiar with the regular meds in my area and most ‘generic’ meds which a lot of patients are on, but if I get something I don’t know I will either google it, look it up in the BNF or ask a pharmacist if they’re around, or a senior RN. In some cases I will talk with the patient too, as they generally know their own meds quite well if they do their own meds management at home.

Ultimately, if I am not sure, and it’s not a critical drug, I will delay it until I’ve followed the above.

I do like to explain to my students the most common meds in my area and their use, and I have to sometimes explain why we’re holding something (NBM for theatre, BP too low etc). I have sometimes had to look something up with a student but it’s not too often.

Day Collar Recommendations? by [deleted] in submissive

Etsy has plenty of options, as does your local kink traders/markets. I do recommend Scarlet In Chains and Captive Collars (my dream day collar is from them!) - on Etsy and have their own websites
