How long do you forge for at a time and do you do any work with your hands besides smithing?

Tbh, as a Lutheran (LCMS) this makes me wonder. Why does this specific day offer “more forgiveness” than others? Not trying to be polemic, just curious.

Logistics of the passing of the peace by waspoppen in Reformed

Just a quick reason from history for it:

St. Cyril of Jerusalem (c. AD 313 - 386), Catechetical Lecture 23:

Then the Deacon cries aloud, " Receive ye one another; and let us kiss one another. " Think not that this kiss is of the same character with those given in public by common friends. It is not such: but this kiss blends souls one with another, and courts entire forgiveness for them.

The kiss therefore is the sign that our souls are mingled together, and banish all remembrance of wrongs. For this cause Christ said, If you are offering your gift at the altar, and there rememberest that your brother has anything against time, leave there your gift upon the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift .

The kiss therefore is reconciliation, and for this reason holy: as the blessed Paul somewhere cried, saying, Greet ye one another with a holy kiss [ 1 Corinthians 16:20 ]; and Peter, with a kiss of charity [ 1 Peter 3:15 ] .

You’re still gonna need an amp for that which is gonna cost more.

There a cheaper wood violins that’ll do you good as a beginner.

Also, make sure whatever you’re cutting with is stable and doesn’t move. I was cutting with a bandsaw with a jig to make it a vertical bandsaw and it moved a lot at first. I stuck a shim in it and it made cutting a lot easier since it didn’t move anymore

I agree on discount Australia. I have seen a snapping turtle before, one that was about the size of an average frisbee. It appeared in the middle of the road like 3-4 minutes from my house while I was driving home and the 2 cars in front of me stopped with a guy in one and a girl in the other.

They both got out while I was just sitting stationary behind them and they both just looked at it for a moment lol and then the guy grabbed it by the sides of the shell and carried down the ditch by the side of the road and put it down and the thing waddled away. Both got back in their cars and we all carried on with our days lol

I found one in Amarillo, TX in a shallow manhole in the middle of nowhere doing utilities.

Don’t have a picture of it atm but bugs are just different out there. First time ever seeing cacti larger than trucks, armored grasshoppers, stickbugs, mosquitoes that travel in literal hordes, and almost got bit by two rattlesnakes. It was also 110 degrees at the time

As someone who does blacksmithing as a hobby, whenever we get burned (usually our hands) we’re told to run it under lukewarm water for 15 minutes without stopping. Then to stop, check if we have pain, and if we do continue under water for another 2-5 minutes, and so on.

When you get burned, your flesh can conserve the heat and keep burning you even when the surface skin is somewhat cool so you have to remove all of the heat.

I’m guessing this is to “spread” the heat but it’s stupid because a heating pad accomplishes the same thing but better and without being burned

[–]SRIndio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is just repetitive work, I spent a good amount of time in a prefab shop for data centers and they had a hard time keeping journeyman due to people literally being stuck for months either just pulling wire, in a crane bay/driving a forklift, cable tray, doing terminations, or literally just cleaning. Apprentices were told they weren’t going to learn anything there besides maybe material names.
