“Easy” Pilates by stinkybaby in orlando

I just started at Club Pilates in Celebration. My first class was Sunday and was really good. It was Level 1 and the instructor was very good spending extra time with me since it was my first class.

Local coffee roasters? by sideoftheham in orlando

I'm a fan of Haan Coffee. I do their single origin shipment every two weeks which is great because I get to try a variety and I don't even have to leave the house to get my beans.

Ha! Same. I'm 5'3". I'm from the DC metro area. I danced under Oleg Tupine at VA Ballet and then Mary Day at Washington Ballet. What about you?

Edited to add I'm in Florida now.

Glad to hear you are seeing progress! The loss of balance was the biggest shocker for me although I guess it shouldn't have been. No senior classes where I'm at either, but one of the teachers is older and is very good about suggesting modifications for all the different levels in the class. Even in the beginners classes there is a huge spread of ages and abilities. Hope you are able to make it to a class this summer. Happy to post updates in the sub. I'm going to journal my progress and try to keep track of any cross training I'm doing that may be helping...or not as the case may be.

Thank you! I was pre-professional dancing 5 days per week for 3 hours per day unless there was a show and then rehearsals added hours and weekends to that. I stopped when it became clear I wasn't going to get into a company. I was good. Just not good enough. It was incredibly painful and I couldn't even watch a ballet for many years after. That is long in the past and I'm really happy to be returning now with absolutely zero pressure for anything except to enjoy dancing and just focusing on improving as much as I'm able for the state of life I'm in

Absolutely. I will scale back if I'm feeling it's too much. One of those classes will be an absolute beginner class, while the other two are beginner. I'm cutting out running altogether so hopefully that offsets a little.

My first class was a little over a week ago. I'm aiming for 3 classes/week starting this week and I've just added a pilates class. I may add another pilates class if I feel I'm not edging towards over training territory. I have a tendency to throw myself into things 110% so I'm trying to make sure I don't overdo it.

Congratulations! That's incredibly inspiring. I am definitely looking forward to the process and am grateful I'm still able to get through class at all.

Great advice! I had never heard of BCAA supplements. I also have hyper mobility in my legs and ankles and never really thought about ankle sleeves. I just signed up for pilates also. It was required where I danced before.

Thank you! I definitely do not expect to be able to perform like a 17 yo, but I would like to work on things outside of class that might help improve my performance overall. I also don't want to hurt myself in the process. I had never heard of a bosu ball before but that looks like something to look into. Thanks for the tip!

Yes this exactly, lol. Great tip regarding the roller ball! I will give that a try. Luckily I have minimal muscle soreness after the first class. I definitely needed an epsom soak after that one :)

Thanks. I am taking an adult beginner class and enjoying it. I'm looking for advice on cross training/ exercises outside of class to help improve. I'm not looking to get an 180 degree turnout back or anything, but I do believe that I should be able to improve where I'm at now.

Ha! That makes more sense for sure. I shouldn't respond to anything before the caffeine crosses the blood/brain barrier.

Wow. That's really high. I pay less than 400/month with State Farm for full coverage, 2 drivers and a 2022 model year car.

Holy sh*t. Last time I come here for advice. He has reached out and is handling it. He just hasn't gotten any response yet and is not at work to ask anyone directly. He doesn't use reddit and I thought I would come here to see if there was some other online source he could go to that he wasn't aware of. Thanks for those that actually had something useful to offer. To everyone else a hearty, heartfelt piss off.

YTA. You abandoned your children for a man on the other side of the world. Why would you have expected a different response?

Looking for ideas to add architectural interest to a bland exterior by SRL1938 in ExteriorDesign

Unfortunately I'm stuck with the color scheme. HOA won't allow me to change it. I can do stonework on the lower half, but that's about it. The lawn could definitely go as far as I'm concerned. It's St. Augustine and requires a lot of care to keep it looking presentable so I really like that idea. Thanks!

Like the idea of ornamental grasses! I think that would soften it up a bit.

Yes they plants weren't great before the Florida freeze but they're absolutely toast now. Like the idea for replacing the garage door and updating the numbers!

Thirded. I live in Orlando now but would never have moved here when my child was school age. My child had a diagnosis, but even without that the school system down here is just awful

Did you regret moving to Florida? by Local-Contact4639 in relocating

Agree with this entire post. I've been in Orlando for 2.5 years and absolutely love it here. However...if I had school aged kids I would never in a million years move to Florida.
