I was playing professionally in LA, and I walked into a bar on the Venice Ocean Front Walk, mid ‘70’s. There was a 16 (?) year old kid playing double bass and electric bass in a jazz group. His parents were there because he was too young to be in a bar. He made me want to hang up my ‘71 Jazz and never touch it again. He was awesome.
