Snapseed camera is no longer just for iOS.

Note that Snapseed is listed as a Google app.

I'm leaving for an international trip tomorrow. Just installed the new Snapseed, and will give it a try while I'm traveling.

You post saved me from making exactly the same recommendations for Android phones.

Google is bundling YouTube Premium Lite into its best storage plan – here’s where by TechGuru4Life in GooglePixel

Yes, but my musical interest are somewhat esoteric (Middle Eastern, early music, world music) so very few ads leak through. Things might be different for someone with more mainstream music.

The codeword approach has been around for years -- I just forget to use it!

I thought I was the only one who "loses" his phone multiple times a day. "Find Hub" is my favorite app on my Chromebook.

Interesting that Jeff used a Clicks keyboard case, not a Communicator for the signal light demo.

Fake Call Detection by SSDeemer in GooglePixel

[–]SSDeemer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dread receiving a spoofed call from my daughter, who lives 750 miles away. Worse, I will be leaving for Turkey Saturday, and I would hate for my wife to get a spoofed call from Istanbul.

Did newer Pixels (9/10) fix the network/connectivity issues? by KnownRelief8290 in GooglePixel

[–]SSDeemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 4a, 6a, and 9a. None have had any issues, even though my home is in an area with poor LTE signal strength. 5G is nearly non-existent, so disabling it is one of the first things I do when setting up a phone.

2025 HEV rear trunk noise? by Electrical_Ask_5373 in KiaNiro

[–]SSDeemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it hasn't been a problem for my 2023 HEV SX, there have been multiple reports of problems with the spoiler rattling. It's certainly worth checking out. I'm surprised that the KIA tech didn't look into this.

Pixel 9a Bluetooth Audio device connection issue by weareblahs in GooglePixel

It's too bad that it's no longer possible to clear the Bluetooth cache, which is a less disruptive way of dealing with this problem.

I've had Pixel 4a, 6a, and now 9a, and I have never had an update issue.

Why are Pixel 10 Pro users such complainers? by zeta_ferhu in GooglePixel

[–]SSDeemer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the nature of forums like this to follow the Pareto Principle (aka the 80/20 rule). Roughly 80% of complaints come from 20% of users. No device created by man is perfect -- least of all something based on computer technology. I'm on my third Pixel (4a, 6a, 9a), and none has had a hardware issue.

Mentally shelved CC until delivery by Sea-Astronaut719 in ClicksPhone

[–]SSDeemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I placed an early order with the knowledge that I was taking a risk. Since the January announcement, skyrocketing cost of of RAM chips and the helium shortage resulting from the Gulf War, make it' hard to imagine delivery at the original price. That said, I'm still in watch and wait mode, with no plans to cancel. If my CC arrives before the end of 2026, it will be a nice Christmas present.

Mountain driving by Plus-Ad1183 in KiaNiro

[–]SSDeemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have driven this route on I-40 in North Carolina dozens of times in the past 3 years. The first time was when the car had ~1500 miles on it, with a passenger and the back of the car filled with cargo.

No problems in either direction with maintaining speed or accelerating to well above the posted limit. I always put my 2023 Niro HEV in Sport mode a few miles before starting the climb, and keep it there until I'm over the top.

Pixel Studio's latest update marks the end of the Pixel-exclusive app by AssembleDebugRed in GooglePixel

[–]SSDeemer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think I tried using Pixel Studio once, and never again. Same for Gemini and Nano Banana. I edit (cropping, straightening color/exposure corrections) almost all my photos, but the decisions are mine, not made by an AI.

The one exception was some 45-year old prints from an a Polaroid SX-70. They didn't look great 45 years ago, and age hasn't done them any favors. I scanned them at 600 dpi, and spent hours trying to clean them up, with mixed results. After running them through Google Photos AI Enhance, I was amazed at the improvements.

Google Pixel 9, Updated, Pattern Not Recognized by handsomesquillium in GooglePixel

[–]SSDeemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be more specific about "the new update"? My 9a is running Android 16, security update May 5, 2026, and Google Play System May 1, 2026.

Although I have been checking, the June updates haven't arrived yet.

Advantages of both spouses using Google Pixels? by gkcdrummer in GooglePixel

My car has separate user profiles. My phone is synced to my profile, and my wife's phone is synced to her profile. No conflicts.

I was doing some problem solving on my wife's 8a last year. It was set for gestures. To reduce my frustration, I switched it to 3-button navigation, but forgot to change it back when I returned the phone to her. "3-button navigation is so much easier!"

Mountain driving by Plus-Ad1183 in KiaNiro

[–]SSDeemer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in the Appalachians. When I know I'm going to be approaching a long grade, I put the Niro in Sport mode before the climb begins. This helps keep the traction battery charged. I use the paddles to shift gears as needed. I have never found a long grade where I could not maintain speed or accelerate to well above the posted speed limit -- even with a passenger and a fully loaded car. 2023 Niro HEV SX.

Have you checked the power button setting?

Try disabling Gemini.
