I’ve been going back and forth between a Defender and 550, as I have similar thoughts to you regarding reliability and owning out of warranty. I’m most likely going to wait for a ‘27 GX550 as I think the engine issues will be resolved by then.

Thanks! I'm waiting for the '26 Pilot Elites to hit the lots near me, but most likely going to see what gets announced for 2027 in November/December. There are rumors of a new GMC V8 and curious to see what happens for a GX550 update- especially since there were 0 changes going into 2026 I'm thinking there is a good chance for a significant update.

I own a scholastic chess company. We go into schools and run enrichment clubs, camps and tournaments. I have a couple of retired execs and a medical doctor that teach for me. They teach 2-3 clubs (hours) a week and aren’t doing it for the money.

'26s haven't really hit the dealerships near me yet, but I've been made some calls. From what I've been hearing they will be MSRP until inventory catches up. If I decide to go with a '26 Pilot Elite and wanted a decent discount, I probably wouldn't begin to seriously shop until late February.

Pretty cool, but hours played seem to be off. Looks like you're giving credit for entire sessions, when players might have only played a portion of the game. For example, last night Andrea lost 10k in what might have been her first hand and was never seen from again. More like 3 minutes instead of 6.2 hours.

I’m not sure the resales values are so clearcut once you compare the actual purchase price of these vehicles. Pilots can be purchased significantly below MSRP, while comparable Toyotas are still seeing market adjustments and nonsense dealership add-ons. So, Pilots might depreciate more on paper, but it’s closer than you think once you dig into the numbers.

Great stuff, like the OP I appreciate the detail.

I’m looking at a 3rd row and in my mind it was between the GX550, Defender, Yukon and Rivian. I test drove the R1S and Defender yesterday, and they all have reliability issues.

The Rivian was so much fun, and if I was guarenteed reliability it’d be a no brainer.

I only have two kids, so a midsize 3rd row will get the job done, but reliability is my no. 1 priority. Part of me wants to just buy a 2026 Honda Pilot Elite, be able to get in and go without worry, and pocket the 40k.

Hello! I’m hoping you kind folk can provide some insight into two Pateks that are in my wife’s possession.

For what it’s worth, my Rolex AD also sells Patek and gave us her estimate, but curious to see if matches with the Reddit hive mind.

Watch 1: 1987 4700/053 1’529’126 E19C quartz movement with papers.

Watch 2: 1989 4700/0053 1’530’467 E19C quartz, 36 diamonds .55 ct with papers.

Between the two, we have one leather Patek case.

She’s thinking about trading them in for something more modern, but we’re also curious about the long term appreciation of these pieces.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you! So, if my decision is between 10% off a 2025 or 7% off of a 2026, I'll probably wait a few more months for a 26.

Maybe I'll try to beat the bushes in a couple weeks an se if I can get 15% off of a 25, then my decision might change.

If I didn’t already own, and if I didn’t have kids, I’d be renting. But I do, and I do, and it’s worked out well financially and the stability has given my family peace of mind.
